“It’s not our business, it is the business of the British people. I have my opinion on the subject but I will not speak about it in advance,” - Russian President Vladimir Putin
When the Russian President says the British People are none of his business, he should mind his own counsel.

Does he actually have anything to communicate?

British Prime Minister David Cameron is holding a referendum on EU membership to “blackmail” and “scare” Europe, Russian President Vladimir Putin suggested Friday. - article
"has Putin actually voiced his opinion on which way the Brits should vote on this?" - comments
Perhaps President Putin is learning one American's tactic of headline grabbing. Say nothing of value and criticism based on no position except saying everything is suspect. That might be called the 'Miss Marple' gambit.

“Why has he set up this referendum? To blackmail Europe? Or to scare it? What is the purpose if he himself is against”
I think you'll find he called a referendum because he was afraid of Tory voters and MPs turning to UKIP. His pooed his pants.
It's not much more complicated than that, Vlad.

Putin has it in for the Brits at present. A new cold war. They are even sponsoring hired thugs to grab attention of their violence on English football supporters and film it for all to see like some kind of pitbull film. Flights into UK airspace, submarines in the English channel, and now he's suddenly interested in British politics. At least we have a democratic vote Putin. I feel sympathy for Russians. What was their democratic choice for president?

Ah yes, its Russia vs. well... pretty much everyone else.

From the article Putin sounds as ill-informed on the referendum as your garden variety Leave voter.
I somewhat doubt that in reality. He's probably rubbing his hands in glee at the disgusting divisionist policies of our rotten self-serving politicians.

The next armed conflict could easily be with Russia. My advice? Take a leaf out of the Turkish book. Build a formidable armed force and shoot down any Russian plane the moment it flies into your airspace. They'll soon think twice about playing those games.

I feel like this is all because of what happened between England and Russia during the Euros match.

Putin's had an agenda against the UK ever since we proved that the double agent Litvenenko was assassinated in London by the Russians. The British government also confirmed yesterday that the so-called Russian football hooligans were almost certainly members of the military sponsored by the Kremlin. Did anyone see Russian football fans enjoying themselves having a drink in France? No. These guys suddenly appeared then suddenly vanished.
