"don't go getting on Canada about this, it is an odd occurrence.
As was the Vancouver pig farmer, Robert Pickton, who possibly hacked up as many as 49 women ???
Funny how it's ok to demonize the US whenever somthing like this occurs... but when it happens in yer backyard, boy "don't go gettin on us... it don't happen everyday" comes a gushin' ! Cmon Canada ! Shake yerself !!! This is one sick puppy you got on yer hands ! Begs the question... What the hells goin on up there in the great white north ?
The victim was 19-20. The attacker was around 40 years old, and some witnesses have described him as Native, not the victim.
And Zen Builder, I don't agree
What it shows me is that humans are being pushed to their limits and simply flip.
This is not someone who just flipped after being pushed to the limit. This is the action of someone insane, or affected by some powerful drugs/medication. An unprovoked attack of stabbing 40-50 times, decapitation, and further carving of the body, and displaying the head for any to see is not just a human who has "simply flip[ped]".
I see nothing "human" in those actions, or "simple".
westurn: "Don't go laying this on Canada (as a country)". There is nothing to indicate that Canadian laws, or the lack thereof, led in any way to the crime at hand.
This is a sick and heinous crime, and I feel VERY sorry for the victim and any family he has. Clearly the murderer flipped out, and I'll be interested in following the news to see if there's ANY reason at all as to why.
Believe me if the perp was smoking any of the weed from there he would have been asleep too. The guy was a nutter and methodical about it. I doubt this was drug induced more like a lack of drugs for this guy.
This 40-year-old nutter should be executed as soon as possible, but unfortunately, Canadian taxpayers will probably pay for his food, clothing, housing and medical care for the next 40 years or more.
Why ??? Why the surprise ? Because you've been programed not to look too deeply into "everyday" crime as it occurs there ? I for one am very realistic about Canada... and "no" this doesn't surprise me !
This doesn't surprise me either. a lot of sick things occur in Canada, despite what some posters in here would like to believe, and are clearly in denial.
This would make me think twice about sitting next to a stranger on a bus anywhere. I used to ride the Greyhound all over when I was in college because it was a cheap way to travel. There were always wierd people on the bus but I certainly would never have expected something like this.
Uh-oh, latest report identifies the attacker, a 40 year old male apparently ethnic Chinese (don't know if immigrant or native Canadian). At any rate hopefully this won't ifluence the hate mongers.
blah blah blah blah blah-- The media loves to report violence every day, and they hope that people will react with negative emotions such as anger and vengeance. It is just how the media wants you to be -- in a state of negative emotional frequencies -- in a state of fear when you ride public transport. It is an isolated random act of violence, and it will not deter me one bit from riding the Greyhound or sitting next to a stranger on the bus.
If you look at the mainstream news everyday, you do not get a realistic portrayal of society. Everyone seems to love the reports on murder, natural disasters and the like. The good news, the other 98 percent, no one wants to hear.
One very important point nobody seems to be asking about is why was this crazy carrying a very big knife? Is this normal on buses in Canada, does one need a big knife on buses in Canada? I know that it is a big country with large open spaces, but does mean that there are no rest stops, do passengers have to get off the bus every few days & hurt some fresh meat? So therefore needing a big knife?
I did think Canada was one of those really sad countries where nothing ever happens. Well they made a bid for the murder olympics with this one.

I am surprised this happened in Canada, but I suppose insanity doesn't consider international borders.
