After 6 years of Obama will do that to some people.

Beheading, sex slave, no mercy to infidels..It seems the march to Mecca and Medina of Mohammad is re emerging again.

Obama is loved by the Canadians: https://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/canadians-still-affinity-u-president-barack-obama-180406144.html

Should have given him a passport.....

0 ( +0 / -0 )

This one was a dual-citizen of Libya and Canada, with a very checkered past and should have been behind bars for his priors.

"Police are also trying to piece together how he got his hands on a Winchester lever action shot gun, since he was restricted from owning any firearms due to past criminal convictions for drug possession and uttering threats in a mugging."

Duh! The same way criminals like inner-city gang members do, not via legal channels.

The prisons are breeding grounds for scum who convert to Islam, the easily radicalized variety.

It seems they are ethnically connected would be more accurate.

Wow, two stories on this case in a row where the second comment blames Obama. The shooter's mother holds a high level ministry position in the Canadian government.

That's fantastic - Canada can have him. Most Americans' don't like him anymore.

No one ever accused the American voting public of being intelligent.

The obvious solution or response to this is to rain more death and destruction on the Middle East and North Africa....... That'll teach them, eh?

Take your pick. The rise of ISIS is directly a result of several Obama policies starting from his embrace of the Arab Spring to destabilize authoritarian regimes threatening to our ally Saudi Arabia. It also stems from Obama’s domestic campaign strategy to get re-elected by taking credit for ending “wars” and eliminating the threat from Islamic extremists.

So far the targets seem to be military or police. Another day another likely jihadist attack against two rookie police officers in Queens NY today by a hatchet wielding psycho (Muslim/ISIS supporter).....

Said who? Is bashing your own strawman so much fun?

In the event, the obvious solution this would be to finally address the issue of political islam. But don´t hold your breath for that.

While we're at it, why don't we finally address the deleterious effects of mental illness and homelessness on well to do Canadians. Mom has a high flying job for a national government agency and she has only met her son once in the last five years to get a reading on his mental health? That seems to be as much a factor in this case as the Islam angle.

So, one guy shot and killed another in Canada, and society goes crazy. On average, 32 Americans are murdered with guns every day. What's the difference between this and the other several dozen shootings that presumably happened that day? "This was TERRORISM!" those easily spooked would say.

If this guy was a terrorist, he must of been at the bottom of his class at Jihadi school. To terrorize, you need to sustain a long-term plan which eliminates the feeling of security of the populace with the goal of the populace finally giving into your demands in exchange for a return to normality. The shooter was in Ottawa to apply for a visa, indicating his rampage was likely spur of the moment. I'm sure the proper authorities are checking up on his background but also that they do not worry to much that this is the beginning of a sustained campaign - rather, this was a spontaneous action by a nutjob. Happens every day, and we don't call it terrorism unless the perpetrator is Islamic.

Take, for example, Byron Williams, who had a deep hatred of liberals and liberal organizations. He was on his way to two of these organization with his car loaded with numerous guns and a suit of body armor when he was stopped by the CHP while speeding and weaving in and out of traffic; a subsequent altercation with the CHP left four officers hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Williams told officers he had been hoping to start a right-wing revolution by killing “people of importance” at two liberal organizations. This was clearly planned and intended to be sustained - a campaign of terror against liberals. He was later convicted of murder but not of terrorism; in fact, there was no discussion of terrorism at all.

Of course, Williams is a white Christian. Imagine if he had been Islamic.

The shooter did not use an "assault rifle". He used a Winchester model 94 lever action 30-30: A hunting rifle that holds up to 6 rounds. Meanwhile, the person he killed only had a prop gun to defend himself.

Time for Canada to confiscate all hunting rifles from its citizens.

No, it's time for Canada to show the world how to respond to an attack without panicking, freaking out, and running around like a bully beating innocent people up in their freak-out.

By all accounts, they seem to be doing quite well so far.

How many wrongs can you put in one sentence?

This is not the first jihadist attack in Canada. It is the latest in a long line of those. And far from "going crazy". society is continuing to bury its head in the sand about the issue.

And far from "going crazy". society is continuing to bury its head in the sand about the issue.

I'll fix that for you. "And far from 'going crazy', Canadian society is continuing on in a calm and collected manner proportional to the incident, without freaking out and destroying the world order".

3 ( +5 / -2 )

" Jihadist attack?" Now, I ain't sayin' it's not, but I ain't sayin' it is as there so far has been zero indications that it was nothing more than the lone actions of a psychologically disturbed drug abuser. If he had been Christian, would you accuse him of being a "Crusader"?

As a Canadian, I can unequivocally say Strangerland's last comment hit the nail on the head. Calm, cool and collected is how we approach this kind of thing. The guy was a nut - who in their right mind would go on a shooting rampage if he wanted to go to Syria? And leave his mother out of it, for God's sake - there are lots of mothers on the planet whose sons become estranged for too many reasons to count. Case closed.

OK, imbed trackers on them and let them go. Use them as tagrets for smart bombs when they get into a group of ISIS fighters.

I think you're confusing "bullying" with taking "NO crap!" Which is something until this current president took power. First Canada would have to seriously build a military if they want to show them anything, since we are literally defending them. What they got was lucky.

@laguna

So, one guy shot and killed another in Canada, and society goes crazy. On average, 32 Americans are murdered with guns every day. What's the difference between this and the other several dozen shootings that presumably happened that day? "This was TERRORISM!" those easily spooked would say.

Well, actually that is not true at all. You are making an apples and oranges comparison. The difference here is that there is a religious component attached to this, the guy was a recently converted Islamist turned radical and in the name of Allah, decided to wage war against Canada and it's allies, manly the US. So it IS without a doubt a terrorist attack. Everyone said it was a terrorist attack, Harper said it was, Obama, I think another workplace disgruntled worker misguided.

If this guy was a terrorist, he must of been at the bottom of his class at Jihadi school.

Oswald was at the bottom and look what he did.

To terrorize, you need to sustain a long-term plan which eliminates the feeling of security of the populace with the goal of the populace finally giving into your demands in exchange for a return to normality.

The very definition of the word: Terrorism

The use of violence or the threat of violence, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political gain.

Which he did. A lone wolf perhaps, he caused chaos and mayhem and panics yes, a terrorist nonetheless.

The shooter was in Ottawa to apply for a visa, indicating his rampage was likely spur of the moment.

Great, so now we have a jihadist and a psycho-maniac as well.

I'm sure the proper authorities are checking up on his background but also that they do not worry to much that this is the beginning of a sustained campaign - rather, this was a spontaneous action by a nutjob. Happens every day, and we don't call it terrorism unless the perpetrator is Islamic.

Maybe that you and are are NOT aware of, but I assure you that in the files of this guy, the word terrorism is ramped.

This was clearly planned and intended to be sustained - a campaign of terror against liberals. He was later convicted of murder but not of terrorism; in fact, there was no discussion of terrorism at all.

Which brings us to that reality in all that you prove, the guy was a bat fleece.
