Once again hats off to Canada for acknowledging the needs and rights of the individual!

Yay Canada! Too bad that the morons at the US DEA ruled to keep marijuana as a Class 1 prohibited drug.

Growing marijuana for personal use should be as legal as growing your own vegetables in your garden.

^ Not quite the same as vegetables as they won't make you high or causes addiction/delusion. Then, again, I think recently I am addicted to eating broccoli (stir fired - I do not like to eat it raw). Or, it is the salt/pepper/Garlic that I use is the reason.

In any case, for medical purpose, I do not see any issue with it. The most stupid comments I have seen is when police crack down a shop selling weeds, the owner complained that why as the PM is going to legalize it eventually. Well, until it is legalized, it is still breaking the law. (She was probably high.) Right now, only people with medical prescription can buy it and those licensed sellers do not pop up shops like mushrooms after a rainy day.

Pot is still illegal in Canada, but the little pot shops are popping up now as the law will change next spring. Close enough. I think there are corporations (with political ties of course) that are trying to control the marketplace already and that is why 'the little guy (shops)' are being harassed.

In Europe they have been doing it for some time to grow your own pot Canada is behind the times.

@RealCDN That's next spring and that is a big if. Until it is finally legalized, it is still breaking the law and can be charged. Of course there is marketplace control by big companies just like drug companies. All those promises could simply for getting voters to vote for them. For the law enforcement, it is a paradise for them. They do not need to do cover up or trace for weed sellers, they volunteer to come out in the light themselves

Zodiac --- Europe is advanced in many ways. Canada was basically under the thumb of the USA re pot, but now that Denver and Seattle have matured, we're okay to make progress now. So Europe leads, Canada is 'behind the times', but where does that leave so many other countries? WAY back there... too bad. Key point: make progress. What is not advanced at all and really bad news is what came from China in this article: http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/calgary-man-charged-with-importing-drug-100-times-more-powerful-than-fentanyl-1.3021736
