to redefine what it means to be Canadian
I can just imagine what his definition is going to be like, none for me thank you.
With only 60% turn out, he is far from representing the majority of Canadians imho, but trying to get these people to vote is like trying to hit the space station with a BB gun... Tough en maudit.

The people who are too smart to vote will be governed by those that do.
The Conservatives got 40% of the vote, compared to 31% for the NDP and a dismal 19% for the Liberals.
Isn't NOT voting a choice? Someone deciding that their opinion doesn't matter or they just don't care who makes legislative decisions for them. They chose to participate by chosing to not participate.
Either way, Canada will move on in a "conservative" direction.

Sad day for the truth as we know Canada's conservatives have no respect for it.

MrWoody you will just have to enter the fray, and be the change, as we say in America. Make a difference in Canadian politics.

The taxpaying voters of Canada don't seem to agree with you.

I had no idea this defeat was so thorough. The Liberals got their butts kicked.I don't understand. Most Canadians you meet in Japan are pretty much socialists. They come off in their politics as silly to us Americans but still you can usually count on em to turn politically against the trend in the US, since not being American pretty defines a lot of Canadians - and definitely the ones you meet in Japan.I guess they just don't like Obama.I guess it is a nation of Teabaggers up there.
