“He, Leonardo DiCaprio, actually said if we took concrete action on climate change, he would be the first to come up and celebrate with us.” - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

It is very important to remember the families who ride a fierce tiger of global oil demand. It is less clear how Mr. DiCaprio's comments attacked PM Trudeau's oil patch denizens.

The Canadians can expect to see more of Mr. DiCaprio. Like it or not.

And what exactly has DiCaprio done to reduce his footprint? Has he had a green lawn in his SoCal home (assuming he has one)?

And what exactly has DiCaprio done to reduce his footprint?

Apart from standing up to the Big Oil that has raped our environment, bought our politicians, caused wars, and blocked the development of countless clean energy solutions?

Why, bugger all, of course. How dare he not cycle to Davos?

Dicaprio cycling to Davos is a great suggestion. He surely would get some attention then. Let's not forget about this fact about the Rising Sun: Environmental hypocrite Leonardo DiCaprio’s superyacht has huge carbon footprint. Let the man have his pleasure with his super luxurious toys and enjoy his well deserved perks. But he does not seem to be the right person to be 'standing up to Big Oil'. Neither do I think Trudeau should have accosted the man.

It's all okay presto, big oil is only the enemy for the public image and comon people not for himself and other global warming investors and promoters. Meanwhile the world turns to China for production and profit from the cheap labor to export product all over the world. And we all know how seriously they take environmental concerns.

There are costs and benefits to climate change policies. The fact that the uber rich are least affected by these policy changes is worth noting.

In DiCaprio's case the contrast is particularly amusing:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3091601/Leonardo-DiCaprio-cuts-lonesome-figure-mills-aboard-450ft-superyacht-Cannes.html

He owns a 450 ft superyacht, the 11th largest in the world. And he's the one railing against global warming and greedy oil companies. The suspicion is obvious - does DiCaprio truly care about global warming, or is he simply virtue signaling like the rest of his rich, globalist peers? I fail to see how you can truly care about climate change yet carelessly create such a large personal carbon footprint.

"But the following day Leonardo DiCaprio cut a lonely figure as he spent some solo time on the sun deck of the 450ft watercraft anchored off the Mediterranean coast of France."

I wonder how much carbon that put into the atmosphere in a single day, compared to how much the average Westerner who will actually be tangibly affected by these policies creates.

All for the greater good Illyas......In their minds.

How much oil does it take to fuel DiCaprio's fleet of vehicles? His numerous homes? His private jet travel? Like everyone else, he is a hypocrite. Like most hypocrites, he tells us to use less, make to with less, and reduce our carbon footprint, while at the same time, he uses less, owns more, and consumes as much as he likes. And his excuse is that he is a multimillionaire actor who can spread the message about how everyone (except himself) is causing catastrophic climate change.

Isn't DiCaprio an investor in Al Gore's Generation Investments Management company? Isn't this a company which has made millions by trading in carbon credits? Doesn't this company make a profit on getting people to pay for creating as much carbon dioxide as they want so long as they "offset" their dirty practices by buying these credits?

And before anyone starts harping moronic nonsense about the greed of big oil, think for a moment how much money is being coerced out of the taxpayers to fight climate change, in America alone the number is more than $25 billion per year. I hate to say it, but that is more money than greedy big oil can spend. Approximately 90% of that amount goes to bureaucracy and industry, with little left to actually fight climate change. That money creates a huge pool of capital for graft, corruption, and the buying and selling of favors.

Government bureaucrats and their cronies are no less greedy than oil company executives. In fact, they are probably more so. The funny thing is that not even the UN's IPCC is absolutely certain that C02 is causing global warming. The strongest terms they have ever used is "strong possibility". Yet, despite these vague terms, and remarkably large margins for error in predictions, it is all the excuse needed for the government and a new group of special interests to suddenly get billions of dollars to fight a problem they are not fully certain is even occurring.

Last week we heard the news that 2015 was the "warmest ever, by a wide margin". Did anyone read the fine print? Did anyone see the margin for error? If anyone did, they would have seen that rather than being the warmest year ever, the margin of error was wide enough to make it anywhere from the warmest year on record, to the twentieth warmest year on record. The math and science behind the proclamation was so vague that it should not have been printed.

He doesnt own that yacht, doesnt have enought money for that :) Was only renting it for Cannes Festival... The real owner : business magnate David Geffen.

I might be interested in di Caprio's opinions about acting and ocean liner safety. But celebrities talking about economics, politics, the environment, etc., sound boring and pretentious. Most of them are rich hypocrites focused solely on building their own images and inflating their egos. In fact, they're nearly as bad as politicians.

Does Trudeau care about drug dealers, traffickers and syndicate bosses he put out of work by legalizing cannabis?

Do as I say not as I do. So, in other words you make the sacrifice while reap the benefits. Hollywood buffoons!

@Ilyas

He owns a 450 ft super yacht

The article linked directly above that that claim specifies that he rented the yacht.

Any more truths too inconvenient for you?

Does only renting it let him off the hook?
