The Left must be totally confused now... :-D

Yes, those all the well-known anti-Semitic, leftists in the KKK, the British National Party and the French National Front must be really perplexed. Goddamn pinkoes.

    manfromamerica

kyushujoe- You are panicking now, hence you're totally irrelevant comment. Here are 2 Leftist icons battling it out. Furthermore, the older one has just undermined the entire Leftwing defense of Ahmadinejad. It's beautiful. :-D

For perhaps the first time in my life, I take my hat off for Fidel Castro!

    @manfromamerica

Not panicking in the least. Just enjoying your latest attempts to prove to yourself that:

"Leftist = Somebody who doesn't agree with manfromamerica." :)

"Leftist = Somebody who doesn't agree with manfromamerica." :)

zzzz... this lame retort is getting old. Where did I say anything like that? I also frequently criticize Republicans and right-wing posters here. You really need quit pouting.

“I didn’t know what a Jew was. I knew of a bird that was a called a ‘Jew,’ and so for me the Jews were those birds,” Goldberg quoted Castro as telling him. Castro later added, “This is how ignorant the entire population was.”

But for some reason, his opinion of someone's alleged anti-semitism is important enough to be in the news.

Basically, he is just saying Ahmandinejad should not deny the Holocaust. Why is this newsworthy?

Hey. A headline that makes you glad you lived another day. Fidel has been around long enough and dodged enough bullets that he can pretty well call them as he sees them.

Left confused? You mean the right is confused. Now every right-winger will have to re-examine everything Fidel has ever said and done. If he is reasonable now, was he unreasonable before? hmmm. Or is he consistently unreasonable?

This left right stuff will break down sooner or later. Countries are lining up according to interests, but those interests have less and less to do with ideology.

Probably Fidel wants Cuba to normalize relations with the US one of these days. A comment like this goes a long way toward getting Florida to pave the way for that to happen. After he dies. Maybe Cuba is getting ready too.

    TOTALLY agree with you.

Who says he's reasonable? He's a communist and a murderer.

    manfromamerica,

The only thing that confuses me is your definition of "the left."

Being a progressive has nothing to do with anti-semetic values, or supporting Ahmandinejad or Castro.

    @moonbeams

"The only thing that confuses me is your definition of "the left.""**

Let me explain it in Japanese baseball terms:

If manfromamerica is a Giants fan, then all Tigers fans are "Neocommunists" and "left-wing nutjobs". Simple!

You guys have really strayed off topic, which means you have no answer for anything. Anyway, it's you guys (sabiwabi included) who go into passionate defense of Ahmadinejad's anti-Jewish rants.

Anyway, I guess it's just coincidence then that the Left supports Castro and Ahmadinejad. Blind luck! wow!

As for kyushu - Your analogy assumes then that you are a fan of Castro and Ahmadinejad. I guess I was right. :-D

That can't be. "Ignoramuses," is a five syllable word, quite beyond Hugo's abilities...

There are 25,000 Jews living in Iran, the largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside Israel. The Iranian Jews are neither persecuted nor mistreated by the state, in fact the Iranian constitution protects them.

They are free to practice their religion and to vote in elections.

They are neither searched at checkpoints, nor brutalized by the army, nor thrown into a densely packed penal colony, nor deprived of basic means for survival.

The office of president Ahmadinejad recently donated money to a Jewish hospital in Tehran.

The MSM make Ahmadinejad to by an anti-Semite, the "new Hitler". But if that were true, then why did most Iranian Jews vote for him at the last presidential elections?

    Sushi:

" There are 25,000 Jews living in Iran, the largest Jewish population in the Middle East outside Israel. The Iranian Jews are neither persecuted nor mistreated by the state, in fact the Iranian constitution protects them. "

"Protects them" under Shariah law, which gives them a place as second-class discriminated dhimmis, yes. And 25.000 is a pale shadow of the original Jewish population. What happened?

You really should look beyond Iranian propaganda stats.

  • 0

    sushi

You really should look beyond Iranian propaganda stats.

Its not Iranian propaganda. Do you have any evidence that the Jews of Iran are mistreated, discriminated against, or treated as second-class people; or is this more of the usual Islamophobic propaganda?

Hold on to your seat. I am Jewish. I support the left. I don't support communists.

    AND...

I see regimes like Ahmadinejad's as the furthest extension of the right. But I don't equate it to your right.

Look man, stop seeing the world in left VS right. You're just going to end up placing people in 2D categories and in the end you'll have a hard time communicating with people.

What anti-Jewish rants? He is very critical of Israel, and rightly so, but what exactly has he said that is anti-Jewish. Its my understanding that he has nothing against Jews. The only thing brought up in the article that could in any way be distorted into something anti-Jewish is his Holocaust "denial". I happen to agree with his statements related to the holocaust, they are in no way anti-Jewish views.

manfromamerica said: Who says he's reasonable? He's a communist and a murderer.

Communism is more like the horse he rode in on. He does not give a crap about communism. He is a megalomaniac just like Stalin and Mao and many others who rode communism to power. Luckily, the good ideas of communism found a home in socialism which is doing just fine thanks.

This news will confound the simple minded who can only see right and left. Yes, the political spectrum also has depth! And most conservatives on JT still don't!

  • 0

    manfromamerica

    What anti-Jewish rants?

sushi, not only do you not read the news, but you obviously don't read other's posts either. Check out some of sabiwabi's comments from the last 2 days. You'll see him blaming "the Jews", not the "zionists" or the "Israelis" like the used to.

  • 0

    sushi

sushi, not only do you not read the news,

I do, and its always the same as this article. They accuse him of anti-Semitism for things he says or is alleged to have said, but I have yet to see anything "anti-Jewsih" in Ahmadinejad's comments. And I see that you are unable to provide one example of an "anti-Jewish rant".

Check out some of sabiwabi's comments from the last 2 days. You'll see him blaming "the Jews", not the "zionists" or the "Israelis" like the used to.

I checked out several of his/her comments; its crystal clear that he/she is criticizing Israel, not Jews. Again, I see that you are unable to provide one example of an anti-Jewish comment by Sabiwabi.

  • 0

    manfromamerica

    "anti-Jewsih" in Ahmadinejad's comments.

I didn't say he said that.

I checked out several of his/her comments; its crystal clear that he/she is criticizing Israel, not Jews.

Then you didn't check very hard, because you would have clearly read him blaming "you Jews". Unless even the Mod got sick of it and removed the posts, which is a possibility. They were quite offensive.

    Helter_Skelter

Socialists and Islamists are usually allied. This is really unexpected. Kudos to Castro.

  • 0

    manfromamerica

anti-Jewish post I have ever written

so you admit it was anti-Jewish. Case closed.

    wow, that was easy! :-D

Moderator: Readers, please focus your comments on the topic, not at or about each other.

    sabiwabi

So there is still nothing in the article or in posted comments about Ahmadinejad's anti-Semitism. The only thing mentioned is that he "denies" the holocaust. People who only rely on headlines, too many I'm afraid, will get the wrong impression.
