once an embargo is dropped, just really who do you think is going to benefit from it the most?

The US will benefit most if the embargo is dropped.

skipthesong no matter what I would have posted, you'd still mock it. If I had said Cuba, you'd have been sarcastic some other way.

    Have a great day.

adaydream: there is a big difference between you and I when things concerning Cuba. I did not mock you! And actually I am saddened that not many are even reading this article.

I think that's the only word he responds to anymore. His hunnies must be tired of saying.

Obama said he would maintain the nearly fifty-year-old trade sanctions against Cuba as leverage to push for democratic change on the island.

Does the man really understand what he is saying? 'Push for democratic change'. Don't ask me to draw up a list of nations the democratic US of A has cozy and/or lucrative relations with, in urgent need of democratic change.

Really? And just how, exactly, would the US benefit? What does Cuba produce that would greatly improve Americans' lives if it could be exported to the US? Cigars? Or maybe Detroit would be propped up by Cuba's sudden demand for post-1960 American cars?

Cuba's been under an embargo for how long...? And the only people who have starved have been the ones Castro punished, or the ones who didn't pack enough food for the raft ride to Florida.

There are companies that have been waiting and hoping that the embargo of Cuba is dropped for years. Tourists, industries.

There are many people who visit Cuba daily, but they travel through Mexico or another port of entry. If we dropped the embargo, then these people could fly the friendly skies of the US and Cuba all the way.

Here, let me help you with that:

Tourist industries. No comma. Tourism is all Cuba has to offer. Big whoop. A Cessna 172 could easily make the trip from anywhere in South Florida.

There are many people who visit Cuba daily, but they travel through Mexico or another port of entry. If we dropped the embargo, then these people could fly the friendly skies of the US and Cuba all the way.

And Cubans could visit the United States freely then, right?

You really think they would leave?

Let's hear McCain/Lieberman use that against Obama.
