I saw the wife swap episode and could not tell if Heene was playing up to the camera or not. If that was his real personality it was a little boisterous.

Apologies for 2 posts in a row...

There was a case recently, in the states, of someone getting billed like USD 25k for the search and rescue teams. The person was lost in the woods or something. The authorities should charge these people for the city/government services used for this stunt.

Its a shame that the kids have to suffer for their parents nuttiness.

I can image that the kids love this stuff, but little mouths sometimes make slip-ups.

Well, there was a little drama, no harm of the children and now some publicity. It'll cost you Heene. < :-)

From what I've seen of the Heenes, they appear to be mentally imbalanced. The parent's ultimate response to all of this could be a dramatic exit from the scene, a la the Heaven's Gate cult. (And I sure hope that I am wrong about that.)

I guess for some folks that would be reaping what they have sown. This was nothing more or less than a PT Barnum type of stunt.

Well, they wanted attention and they got it, evidently now including the CO D.A.'s Office's.

This was nothing more or less than a PT Barnum type of stunt.

Barnum's PR stunts were harmless. This one cost people (emergency services, military, FAA, airlines, etc.) a significant amount of money and manpower. Not the same at all.

Not to mention a getting a terrific training/response exercise to critique and review. That glass is definitely half full.

Barnum's stunts cost people money too, as in "this way to the egress."

And, as with Barnum, most of the rage comes about through being so thoroughly taken in and fooled by these obvious self-promoting hucksters. I get the sense that many folks will feel somehow satisfied if this family went and offed themselves. They are obviously mentally imbalanced people who lost sense of the ramifications of their actions, in a society which increasingly rewards the mentally imbalanced with the positive attention they covet, which is why I am reluctant come down too hard on them.

Yes, there should be fines levied. And lots of mental health care and community service.
