Good that China just hijacked climate 'talks' and not climate itself. Developed countries are already finding it difficult to breathe without China's cooperation on any international affair.

I have no doubt that China enjoy its *developing country * title immensely...all benefits, no duty!

Now this is going to be interesting...
For years Europe has played with the numbers to generate favorable headlines regarding the environment, usually with the US as their target. They keep holding on to the bogus 1990 level, signing agreements that they don't live up to, increasing their carbon output at the same pace and sometimes even more than the US, but their politicians keep their people so focused on the US that they never bother to look at what their own governments are doing.
For the most part the US has refused to play the headline game with Europe, but it looks like China is ready to play. Personally, I think the Europeans should back off. If they don't they're going to be exposed.

Seems that China is doing more than just playing the headlines game. The are actually obstructing.
It's rather bemusing that China continues to consider themselves "victims" of the western imperialism. The west has had pretty much no influence in China since the end of WWII. The only thing that prevented China from being a developed country like SK, Japan, or Singapore was their own government. They have nobody to blame for their current "status" but themselves.
Of course their government will whip up nationalism to cover their mistakes. Oldest trick in the book. But it becomes highly dangerous when it's a nuclear armed industrial nation with a huge economy playing victim. When's the last time that happened (thankfully minus the nukes...)

If the British claim it then it can't be true. It's lies lies lies. You can only trust them to use smoke and mirrors.

The root of the problem is China is exempt from the emission standards. I predicted long ago this would only lead to disaster. It's no one country's fault - China is more than happy to accept those terms and is more than happy to keep them. Of course, that only leads to whining and temper tantrums later on as China is told the policy no longer makes sense.
