That's a pretty assertive statement. So does china expect SK, Japan-US to just twiddle their thumbs if Pyongyang decides to shower a couple cities with their readily available missiles?
Laguna
It's actually quite a nuanced statement in that it indicates no support for the Kim regime - it could be read that China is finally moving towards acceptance of a German-style reunion. We'll see whether further statements and actions back up this position. The flow seems to indicate, though, that China has run out of patience with the DPRK.

Ok. So just what EXACTLY are they going to do if war breaks out again? specifics please.

Xi needs to pay more attention to the "boy" in NK. The military developments for missile launch from submarines, etc are progressing very quickly. What is the problem? China isn't selling the technology to NK, so it doesn't have any financial benefit. and it can suffer the results when NK hoards "run for the border." Finally, it is important to realize that NK is not going to wage a 1950 "run for the border" war. It is cyber and air and naval attacks.

Thank heavens for that. We've been worrying unnecessarily about North Korea lately.

They don't allow chaos unless it's perpetrated by themselves.....

It could be read that China is, yet again, firmly telling the US China will not accept a change to the status quo - a divided Korea, no US nukes in South Korea, and no South Korean nukes.

We'll see what Xi has to say for an excuse the next time N.K. decides to shell S.K. villages or torpedo S.K. ships. It's one thing to say you "won't permit" it. It's quite another thing to actually prevent it from happening.
Kansaicoon
China has it's own interests and that may not be a ousted North regime lead towards a United Korea(well that's my hope)!
Black Sabbath
And that is, under no circumstances, having a united Korea with US bases in it.
And to be fair, that is a legitimate interest...

China will rue the day that it let North Korea go nuclear and develop all of these missiles.
Everyone tends to focus on the NOW and see China as letting the DPRK be its war dog. But looking ahead a decade or so, Japan and the US will be able to pretty well disengage and let the DPRK do its Albania thing. As things stand, the DPRK makes most of its claims and demands on China. Like it or not, the world is going to see the DPRK as China's responsibility.
And objectively, one could say that South Korea, Japan, and the US are DPRK enemies, so they should be the ones who should be concerned, but they are not going to be the ones invading or threatening Kim Jong Un. China and Russia will be left to deal with a rickety suspicious regime with a lot of nukes and nothing to do with them. Their respective postures also make relations and bluster risky. One too many Chinese trawlers in DPRK waters or one too many MiG flyovers and Kim might be tempted to flex his missiles.
