With satelites and spy planes why do we have to be that close to their territory? Can't we get our spying information other ways? < :-)

You can not get the signature of enemy Submarines and War ships via either planes or Satellite. It's a normal cat and mouse game that is played all the time and by all sides.

China is just trying to use the claim of an EEZ or SEZ. At this rate they may try and claim the entire Pacific in their attempt to hide their new Sub.LOL

"enemy Submarines and War ships"...geez is the US also at war with China as well? Don't they have anything better to do?

200kms isn't sea territory. Economic interest zone perhaps but not territory. Besides an foreign vessel can sail within the territorial waters of another country as long as they display their colors, all hands on deck etc.. This sort of irresonsible comment from some unqualified person in China can trigger world war three. Let's not forget the Chinese navy regularly sails through the narrow Tsugaru straight and even between Kagoshima and Tangegashima which are both Japanese sea territories.

Nope not yet, but let us hope that the Chinese do not try and fire at any US Naval vessel. Then there would be problems.......

They have an International legal right to fire on any US warship illegally entering their space.

Den Den "They have an International legal right to fire on any US warship illegally entering their space."

Which part of their space do you mean? Special Economic Zone? So by the same token would Japan have an international legal right to fire on Chinese ships and subs which recently 'mistakenly' enter J economic waters?

    1. Japan and China are neighbours, USA is not.
    2. J and China have disputes over exact boundaries.
    3. J has Article 9 to prevent preemptive attacks

Japan and China are neighbours, USA is not." Not according to the security act. I guess China shouldn't be trolling around South American, Africa, Indian Ocean, or even near Taiwan then, should they?

The US did not retailiate after China seizing and evaluating the EP3 plane after the mid air collision incident in 2001.America has no balls to get it back and it wont be possible to challenge China as today she was vulnerable than 8 years ago, if that ship was seized and captured by Chinese they will never making troubles at sea again
