Surely every country had a 'legal and cultural tradition' of inflicting the death penalty until it was abolished...?

I notice the usual crowd tearing into China for its appalling human rights record ( I agree on this point ) are conspicuously silent on this one. Interesting.

The death penalty has never been a deterrent to crime. It is the appropriate punishment for taking the life of an innocent person. It is also known as justice for the deceased.

Any criticism of China is groundless and baseless. Those who criticize should correct their thinking. The death penalty is a tradition which has been practiced in China since ancient times.
