This is terrible. I don't like hearing this. I've been against the constant bombardment of preaching to the Chinese government on religious freedoms, but this is terrible.
I won't even try to defend the actions of these cops. I see it as being wrong and out of line.
I'd like to see much more religious freedoms in China of course, but I'm against hounding them. There are more freedoms today then there was 20, 30 or more years ago and it's seeing more freedoms each year. These games are opening doors never opened before.
I may never see religious freedoms in China as we see in the United States now, but it will happen. The people of China are opening those doors slowly. They have more freedoms than ever. Not enough, but more.
The Olympics alone are forcing new views by the Chinese government. Not as fast as some would like to see. But the Chinese government is changing. < :-)

Why? Doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense on the part of the government. Picking on a lone activist is only going to draw attention to the cause.
