Unsafe toys...tainted food...poisoned childrens milk...are we now supposed to trust a Chinese built car??? No way. I'll stick with American trucks, German sport cars and Italian motorcycles, thank you.

As a US taxpayer, knowing that alot of my taxes are spent defending this country, besides propping up idiot companies like GM, I am totally against GM importing any cars from any country that has nuclear missles pointed at my rear end. Not to mention that the US consumer would never accept the level of quality we've come to expect when our lives will now be on the line.

GM is still being run by idiots. If they had any brains in their feeble skulls they'd have made deals with an interesting AMERICAN car company called Tesla Motors. But nooo, they still want to keep going in the box for old ideas and expecting something new. Always investing in the wrong ideas, Chinas vehicle quality, gas efficiency etc, is as bad as what the US was making back in the 70s. Cold day in hell before I'd buy a vehicle imported from China.

China auto sales are higher than U.S. Sales right now. GM sales in Asia are growing. Buick has been #1 in China. =This move makes sense.

That's because well to do Chinese consumers are too smart to buy Chinese brand cars. The same way they go foe the Japanese electronics.

Problem is Badsey GM intends to IMPORT Chinese vehicles to the US. That part does not make sense.

most Japan brand electronics are made in China. Chevy Aveo Korean.

If you have a market in that country it makes some sense to manufacture there.

BMW, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai all make some vehicles in the U.S.

These smaller cars may not be profitable to make under a UAW contract. Rebadged as a GM. But GM is the big seller in China while Toyota/Honda is not = makes you wonder. I believe the Chevy Cobalt is made in Cleveland, OH --> as small as it gets for a GM U.S. Made product. --> makes you wonder why you couldn't make the Aveo here also.

Its pretty stupid as for why Toyota/Honda aren't selling in China, (Old bitterness dies hard there remember?). Plus electronics made in China are not designed nor created there. Someone in another country designs the plans and then the plans are built there, thats the difference.

I remember a program where GM was advertising the Volt, and they said its still a "dream" car because they don't have the battery technology to run it. Tesla motors has the technology and is producing its own cars, but is oversold by 600 on the waiting list because they do not have the facilities to mass manufacture vehicles like GM has. Not to mention they're trying to release a sedan type vehicle for a lot cheaper and still trying to build a cheaper vehicle for around $30,000. If a small company thats just barely been in business for around 5-6 years can't meet demand for what is considered an economical (estimated 0.02cents per mile), and purely environmentally safe vehicle.

In my opinion GM is investing in the wrong area completely. But they want to sell their remaining stockpiles, and people around the world aren't buying with the exception of China as you say. That doesn't bode well.
