That's great! I hope countries like Thailand will also play a big role in North American politics.

"She also said the U.S. has a plan to prevent Iranian domination in the Middle East if it gets the nuclear bomb"

How about preventing Iran from getting the nuclear bomb?

    Nah...

It wouldn't be fair if this were a one-way street. Asian countries should also play a bigger and more active role in influencing American policies.

I am generally supportive of the US but why do they always have to get involved in everybody else's business all the time?

Asia has capability to boosts its buying power. USA and Asian nations needs to play their role to help each other, in the upgrading of developing Asian economies and also the US economy.

US nasdaq companies and Asian companies need to work together to upgrade asian economies.

South korean and Japan economy also should help in the process of upgrading Asian economies.

A richer Asia consumer, means and even more richer US via US exports in all fields of economy and also via US food exports.

We can all sleep safely in our beds now, after this pronouncement from Hillary Rotten Clinton. All is safe and well in Asia, because Obama`s America, with sidekick Clinton, is at the helm once again, to steer the Asian ship into safe waters. (sic) Watch out! World War III may be closer than you think! I wonder does she remember the time, (if she ever studies any history) the last time America was in Asia? The Democrats were in charge then, too, and made a complete horlicks of Vietnam! Are we to expect more of the same?

"it is unlikely that Iran will be any stronger or safer" -sounds like good-ole sabre rattling to me.

Dont take Mrs Clinton's remarks seriously, america is oweing a debt of 70% of her GDP at present and her situation will exceed 100% at 2012. America was nabkrupted. The vows of 'America is back!' was a face saving for the americans! Even the Clintons were paid by Chinese, so who is the big brother of asia?

Big Brother is The Federal Reserve which has been buying up banks and property at an enormous rate. China must not be allowed to float its' currency or Big Brother will attack China's currency.

China is needed to counter the Federal Reserve financial terrorists (Bilderburgs, Tri-Laterals, CFR)

-and Americans bailed out these brazen financial terrorists (10-20Trillion = borrowed them 1T-2T and they printed the rest)

"the U.S. "is back" in Asia."

Was the U.S. ever gone from Asia?

    Sarge,

lets see. Bush took NK off the terrorist list making Japan angry, bush destroyed the sunshine policy in Korea pushing NK to nukes, bush neglected China, never mentioned SE Asia at all basically, but he did get John Howard to suck up to him. I guess that Oz was bushs only interest in Asia in his 8 years. Of course Howard was booted out losing his own district in the end and now liberals are running Australia.

So yes, the USA is showing interest in Asia that basically ended in 2000 when the idiots took over and only focused on the Exxon program, that is getting oil.

But she had to clarify saying we wouldn't be sending troops back to Vietnam. har... har..... Seriously though if Clinton gets serious about addressing the Burma problem it will go a long way to boosting her credibility. North Korea on the other hand, well everyone fails with North Korea.

"bush destroyed the sunshine policy in Korea"

The sunshine policy that rewarded N Korea for misbehaving?

    "bush neglected China"

Heck, the Chinese are big boys and girls now, they don't need pampering!

sarge: "How about preventing Iran from getting the nuclear bomb? Nah..."

So, Mr. Critical, why not offer some advice as to how?

    Nah...

"The sunshine policy that rewarded N Korea for misbehaving?"

So how about offering some advice on N Korea?

    Nah...

In other words, you have no suggestions and no clue as to what should be done... you just like being that way under a leader who pretends to be all tough and shakes his fists (then backtracks and takes NK off the terror list!). What do you want... the US to go into both Iran and NK as well? You already made a$$es of yourself enough with Iraq and paid with everyone's future. What do you arm-chair warriors suggest? I mean, aside from implausible wars.

"Heck, the Chinese are big boys and girls now, they don't need pampering!"

Clearly some people who are still loyal to the ex-president and the dolt palin still do.

I agree that the US never "left" asia. But the Chinese support NK and Burma's dictators so it is difficult for the US to have any real leverage there. As was pointed out the Chinese own a big chunk of US debt too, so must tread lightly. Then there are the distractions in the middle east. China isn't much involved in that so they can concentrate on asia.

So I don't see why Clinton feels it necessary to say that the US is "back." Sounds like more bombast to me.

    Sarge,

The situation in NK is better now that bush killed the sunshine policy? Really, testing nukes by NK is better than when NK was contained? China is the most important country for the USA to cultivate a strong relationship, that is why Obama put a chinese fluent senator over there to run the embassy. Bush did nothing. And you think that is better?

zurcronium: Well to be fair North Korea was already developing nukes before Bush came along, North korea was already violating its treaty they had made with clinton. The sun shine policy really wasn't working, South Korea kept on backpedaling when it came to the part about south and north korea each making comprimises and concessions instead North korea didn't really do any comprismises while south did almost all of them. You then have north koreans in 2002 doing a small naval skirmish that resulted in 4 south korean sailors being killed over fishing territory. You then also have the fact that South korea had to pay north korea several hundreds of thousands of dollars to even agree to the meetings in 2000. North korea was never really contained and bush didn't kill the sunshine policy as it lasted until 2008.
