"Clinton poised for West Virginia win that offers little hope of halting Obama's nomination"
That's one way of looking at it.
Not sure it's the one I'd be trumpeting if I wanted a Democrat in the WH from next January.
Southern-born Gore lost W Virginia in 2000 and lost to Bush.
As the Clintons like to point out, no Democrat, going back to 1916, has lost this state and won the presidential election.
And yet, this year even their putative nominee couldn't win W Va., going up against a fellow "liberal" the media is against almost as openly as they are conservatives.
It boggles the mind to watch what these people are doing. They had 7 years to find anybody - an ex-governor with even moderate bipartisan successes to point to or an accomplished mayor of a major metropolis and the road to the WH would have been a waltz.
As it stands right now they are looking at a brokered convention and a massive drift by independents and Blue Dogs to McCain.

I wonder if McCain will put Clinton on the ticket.

What boggles my mind is that the Republicans think they have a chance with McCain.
McCain's basically the Liberal's Conservative, the "Conservative" when every real conservative has been given the boot, ha ha.
Good on Clinton, but it won't save her.

barack's campaign strategy to completely ignore some states now will certainly come back to bite him in the ass if he moves on to the general election.
Also, ignoring W. VA is an indicator of what he thinks about blue collar, rural white people in America.
If he gets the dem's nomination, the GOP ad machine will make sure American working class voters will be reminded of that in the general election.

The interesting thing is the dem party "elite" -- the "educated", latte-sipping liberal voters who are pro-obama, the drive-by media and even barack himself are all quick to dismiss the workingman's vote like in West Virginia when the working class, lunch bucket voters like in W. VA is a group he does poorly with.

Of course Hillary is right when she says its all about the electoral math. It probably shouldn't be that way, but it is and there's no getting around it for the present.
But I think it's a little too early to count Obama out in a head to head race against McCain. Of course, if the Republicans want another popular election loss with an electoral college win that's a very possible scenario.

As for West Virginia and 1916, who knows? Times change. Or Barack may turn out to be another Woodrow Wilson.

Really makes no difference as W. Virginia always goes Republican in the general election.

I do not know the significance of this win, as I do not understand the delegate and super delegate system, however, him ignoring W.VA can turn out to be what happened to the Repubs when they didn't turn out for a Debate Focused on Black Issues. Will this cause a certain wave across the country?
I would say, its not going to help if he cares about white working class, but then again, in the main election, as I tried to state before, I do feel most libs believe W.VA to be a white trash state full of red necks.
I would imagine W.Va is not anything of significance in helping Hillary. And, I still can't fathom why she is even running any longer.
But, would ignoring W.Va make black vote the other way?
"At this time, only 11% of blacks vote Republican. The percentage is higher in states such as Ohio, where President Bush received 16% of the black vote. The reasons blacks should vote Republican are compelling, beginning with the history of blacks and the Republican party." http://www.blackconservative.net/index.html

I still can't fathom why she is even running any longer.
Two possible reasons, Skip.
1.) She is trying to get on this ticket as VP, or,
2.) She's looking ahead to 2012. It'll give her four more years of Senate experience and, more importantly, she can run next time as the "I told you so" candidate.

"I still can't fathom why she is even running any longer."
It's not she, it's they. The Clintons regard the party as theirs.

Clinton has the support of the uneducated slobs, Obama has the support of well educated go-getters. It is a rather sad state of affairs when the idiots of the world are put in charge. Bush won because both Gore and Kerry seemed too clever so people voted for the candidate that seemed the dumbest. I am really curious about the anti-intellectual currents that flow through American society. Why don't Americans like smart people? Is the dislike for smart people the reason America scores so low on international tests. I don't think American are that dumb, do Americans pretend to be stupid?

Ouch.
Reports are that Barack Hussein Obama lost in every single category in this state.

The radicals are really starting to panic now. Senator Obama's campaign and the news that 260kg of amphetamines that were seized is really starting to push the buttons.

I couldn't imagine her being a VP
By winning W. VA by double digits today, skip, she is showing the SuperD's that she can deliver the blue collar vote. And we both know there are a lot more of them in America than limousine liberals.

Still, Skip, IMO she's already started running for 2012 by spending Chelsea's inheritance money.

Madverts : Heh. "Hussein". "The radicals are really starting to panic now."
Barack Hussein Obama is proud of his name. He apparently thinks it inspires - and not just with the under-30 crowd. He sees no shame in using it, why should any American?
The presumptive Democrat party nominee, in a recent Atlantic Monthly interview, answers a question about an advisor of his who had ties to Hamas:
'It’s conceivable that there are those in the Arab world who say to themselves, “This is a guy who spent some time in the Muslim world, has a middle name of Hussein, and appears more worldly and has called for talks with people, and so he’s not going to be engaging in the same sort of cowboy diplomacy as George Bush,” and that’s something they’re hopeful about.'

Heh ...it looks like the dems are the ones having problems with racism these days. W. VA was the democrat primary, not the G.E.

Uhm, heh, nucular;
"Hussein" is how you guys on the extreme end like to degrade him. Only it doesn't work. Heh, even ramen not using capital letters on his or the democrat party's names for the past six months of preliminary Panic has surprisingly failed to de-rail Senator Obama's campaign.
There is little left for the radicals still loyal to the Bush sect to do other than hoard their amphetamine stash, reserve a spot on the cliff, and wait for Day Zero.

Why can't I mention the flailing republicans racially motivated use of Senator Obama's middle name, anyway?
Maybe I should say nothing - heh, it only highlights to which depths the GOP have actually sunk.

Umm, heh, Madverts.
You want radical and racist?
Go look up who represents W Virginia in the US Senate - same party as Barack Hussein Obama - then come back for your crow.

ramen,
That one wasn't even pathetic. Heh, like I said, the deeper the hole for the GOP gets with this election, the deeper the rats dig.
Day Zero cometh.

see what I mean? Look at Proxy's post: "Clinton has the support of the uneducated slobs, Obama has the support of well educated go-getters"
See, libs view W.Va as the white trash state. Told you so!

Obama may not of won in West Virginia but he won in Mississippi. The Dem was behind before the run off but after the rep party did a full court press linking the dem candidate to Obama, the dem won the run off in possibly the reddest seat in the nation.

GrouchyGaijin, considering your remarks about Israel and Jews on other threads as well as this one, I don't see how you have to room to comment on either Wright or Hagee.
And by the way, Hagee has done something Wright won't even consider: Apologizing for his remarks.
Also, Hagee is not "McCain's pastor", rather just an endorser. It's not like any comparison can be made to Obama's relationship with Wright.
Not that such facts will stop Obama's defenders from trying...
It's rumored that Clinton is only staying in to pay off her campaign debt. The media has yet to notice the contrast with Romney, who gave his campaign money, while Clinton loans her money to hers. That is just so telling about leftist Democrats: No matter how bad they want something, it's somebody else's responsibility to pay for it.

One opinion is that Clinton was staying in the race because a lot of people have invested time and money in her and she has to show that she did everything she could to try to win. It was only recently that she lost the Super Delegate count, so it's not like she could have pulled out and justified it before then, regardless of what the writing on the wall was.
This is an interesting article from TIME talking about the 5 mistakes Clinton made:
