Well, it's a war that will be fought as long as the Taliban try to wrest Afghanistan away from the legitimate government. Could be quite a while yet...especially with fresh troops coming in...

It would seem to me the roots of their hatred is based on a radical intrepratation of a religion that is over 800 years old.

I can't help the radicals to change their ways as to why they hate us, you seem to have the answer to change a fanatic from his ways, please share your kumbaya view so these airstrikes don't have to happen anymore.

Get the troops out of Iraq and get them into Afghanistan. We're wasting $$$$$$$$ on a war of choice and our troops are dieing, we're killing civilians and we're not making any progress after all these years there.

This was where we were supposed to be smacking terrorist and taking a certain measure of revenge and a restart of a rogue nation. We've been there October 2001 and we're still bogged down because george bush deserted the real war and went on a mission of rogue nation building.

Get the troops out of Iraq and where they should be in Afghanistan. < :-)

Oh my GOD!!! We wonder why they hate us!!!????!!!! Because we didn't bring flowers and LSD and things like that!! And free love and all that stuff!! We brought rifles, and bombs and modern technology on how to .. how to ... plant land-mines instead of flowers!! We are pure evil. Lets get back to the basics of shooting women in the head in the cricket oval for showing their ankles in this modern world of AK-47s we love so much!! hypocrisy... hypocrisy...hypocrisy!!

Get our killers out of Iraq now to go to Afgahnistan and take care of the freedom fighters for killers of women with sexy ankles!! Leave Iraq to deal with the aftermath of power vacuumn by itself. we made the mistake!! let them finish it so it can get worse and we can blame well US and the UN too. I'm glad we had such good ideas on this one!!

I wouldn't exactly follow that line of thinking Sarge. Remember that attack on the American military outpost that killed 9 American troops? That attack was planned and executed with the full cooperation of many people who actually lived near the compound. That's right, now it was found that the 'natives' actually collaborated with the insurgent fighters, some actually fought alongside them. The way Afghanis are divided by tribes and ethnicities, and the way they can switch sides in the blink of an eye, to think that all of them are eternally grateful for American presence is a bit far fetched.
