    "only hypothetically" for today

    But tomorrow it becomes real.

    It'll be Cuba's decision. I can see it happening. < : - )

    Uh, oh...

What American and Euro cities' citizens are gonna be vaporized in their sleep at 3:30 in the AM?

Well, it's said that the unexpected death is the best one.

Now that the “evil empire” has gone what possible benefit would the Russians gain from so stupid a move?

Bush isn't President anymore. Russia needs to get with the program.

Why is it that all those who hate Bush don't seem to hate Putin?

agreed.... methinks this is simply politicking.

Ossan: the shrub made Putin seem justified in so many of his actions by sheer comparison, and also made him seem like a genius. Add to that real military service as opposed to drinking and going AWOL, and charisma, and... well... you've just got a better package, bottom line. The only wonder is why ANYONE liked bush at all, even for a millisecond.

    "Cuba... could host Russian bombers"

What! Isn't Cuba already burdened with foreign military forces?

This is tit for tat. The United States continues to play in Russia's backyard, even under the Obama administration, including still pushing for NATO membership for Georgia and the Ukraine, so Russia is giving the USA a taste of its own medicine. So, it is a case of "mess with my interests and I will mess with your interests." Justified. Putin is the only Western leader with any guts.

I guess, bebert, but the US is actually in the waters around Russia while Russia is just talking about it. If Putin had any guts he'd do it. Looks like your guy has a bit of a yellow tail, ne? ;)

Russia is much more dangerous now than they ever have. Why? Because too many people think it isn't dangerous. I disagreed with McCain on many things, but he was right on Russia.

But, but, but we said we'd scrap the missile shield for Eastern European nations that the imperialist Soviets once overran and occupied for decades.

Isn't he? No. Russia is still coming back from being economically wrecked by Yeltsin (and 70 years of Communism) and rebuilding their strength. Russia is now flying their long range bombers 24/7 and sent a token fleet through the Panama Canal not long ago. Something they couldn't have done 10 years ago. There is also talk of reopening their naval base in Syria, but these things take time.

Looks like a real test for our amateur president.

What did Sheriff Joe Biden know?

    When did he know it?

I am glad that Bush is gone and we have President Obama to fix this Republican mess. Bush and his henchmen took their eye off of our back yard and look what it got us. We have lost too much and I for one am glad the republicans are out.

    "henchmen"?

    Give us a break.

Oh, dand you're about to lose a lot more for generations to come. It's been in the papers.
