    He was a great villain.

He was a great hero, in I Dream of Jeannie, but he truely excelled as a villain.

He probably donated more to charity than he received from Ceausescu, and its not in the same league has blood diamonds.

The only thing wrong was that he evaded taxes on it.

Weird story. Hagman needed a bag of cash from the Romanians, eh?

In this case it was his request to hold off until after his death, but how much easier it is to ruin someone's reputation after their death. Too easy nowadays, IMHO.

    Extraordinary story for extraordinary people.

How do you know he did not claim it for his taxes?

How do you know he did not claim it for his taxes?

I think the fact that Hagman asked for it in cash in an unmarked bag at a designated dropoff point may have been the clue there. Not that politicians are immune from this type of payment process.

Yes, as soon as they die the UK press starts with the badmouthing. So what?

Wait for it 'Larry' the movie coming soon. It might be a tad juicier to watch than the Olympus whistleblower film.(笑)

    UK press....ugh!!

They used his face and he got money for it. Does not seem like a sordid deed to me.

Selfish until the end. He asks to wait until after he is dead so he doesn't bring shame on himself, but he cares little about the shame it brings on his family. Has his wife already passed?

Yeah, why would he get the money that way? It would have been obvious to the world that his image was being used and people would also know that Hagman did nothing about it...so it's kind of assumed a deal was reached.

How much was in the bag?

All dictator money is a no-no? So I should return the bag of cash I was given by the Dear Leader?

I am sure he didn't need the money. It was just a weird thing to demand that perpetuated the character and persona he created.

News of the incident came out at his death, as planned. So, at the end of the day, I see it as only a cool Hagman gag.

Sure it was tax evasion, but it was cool.

    Heh, when is it not...?

I'm surprised Ceaușescu asked at all... He must really have liked Dallas. It's not like there was any enforcement of copyrights in the Eastern Bloc countries back then. Heck, even now.

I don't understand this at all. Why didn't Hagman just ask Jeannie to blink him a bag of cash if he needed it?

I can't see what Larry Hagman did wrong. I'm glad I stopped buying Britsh newspapers a long time ago, they'd shop their own grandmothers.

Sad, the man is not even a week dead and they come out with this NOW??? As if the media couldn't go any lower. So what's the point with the media talking about this now?
