“If a congressman is going to be a rascal he’s going to be a rascal,” Rostenkowski once told an interviewer. “I think the epitaph I’d like to see, even on my gravestone, would be, ‘He wrote good law,’” Rostenkowski said later. “That it was fair.”
One of those guys who knew what was going on and helped a lot of people. Yeah. A felon too. But you see all these guys in Washington selling out for nothing and then leaving, and then you look at Rosty, who played to game just so he could do some good for somebody in the long run, and you pick up a lot of cognitive dissonance. Felon? Yeah. I guess Santa Claus is a felon too, with all that breaking and entering he does. Rosty was a good guy who did not play by the rules.

Or maybe he just did not play by OUR rules, but by Washington and Chicago rules.

This is not Wisconsin's fault: We tried to rehabilitate this person as young man and as an old fart. People need to stop blaming Wisconsin for all of Chicago's problems and take responsibility instead of just bowing down to the Daley's.

Wasn't he the guy who told the judge during his trial, 'Your honour, I stole it fair and square!'?

lol, very nice obit. Trying to shine up this dirty and corrupt politician. Though perhaps he's not really corrupt, at least not by Chicago standards.
