While the Euro keeps going down and down on world market values, I am sure this will be a token of appreciation by the stupid ship company, and 11,000 crappy Euros will never ever make up for the loss of life or for the horrible memories the survivors will live with for the rest of their lives.

Miffy: If I were advising them I would suggest not accepting the offer and joining any number of class action lawsuits that will make 11,000 Euros look like pocket change. Believe me, the cruise line would be very,very happy to make this a final compensation to passengers.

11000 euros is for those who were not injured and sounds a reasonable amount to me. Those uninjured who want more compensation for their "suffering" should toughen up and stop whining.

The title (right now) says that a deal has been struck, but it seems the passengers have not agreed yet. They get the cost of the cruise back, expenses, and 11k EU on top. Since most may have only just had to disembark PDQ (?sounds rude, I know it was a trauma), it might not be a bad deal. But for those who may have lost family members and for hose trapped, it might not be so attractive (and on the other hand, how much do you think "I'm lucky to be alive" is?).

Question is, would you want to drag this through the courts in order to get more, or draw a line and get on with life?
