More North Korean exceptionalism on display.

North Korea is a stupid country, ready to IMPLODE on itself! China needs to keep propping up this communist brother to make Beijing look strong to the millions and millions of UNHAPPY Chinese, they have a symbiotic relationship, Beijing and Pyongyang, China kills its own people, and with the help of China, North Korea also kills its own people.

not sure if this is relevant, but through some of the other blogs, there's a rumor that China shot off a missile off the west coast.... I really hope nothing is going down.

Time to call North Korea's bluff. It will come to it sooner or later. No, I'm not a war monger, but NK's generals aren't fools and know they can't win an all out war. If they back down it could be the end of the little puppet son and a realistic future instead of the glorious dynasty.

know they can't win an all out war." I don't want to sound pessimistic, I was only a medic while in the army, but after spending two years in Korea, I felt that ground to ground, they'd give us a run for the money. You know, like a lot of guys, you'll have to kill them to stop them, We would really have to hit them hard and not even consider trying to rebuild the place.

Maybe North Korea should be presenting the 2018 Winter Games. -NK really timed this out nicely and i highly doubt SK will get picked now.

I would actually like Japan to go for the Winter Games again, SK would be good also and i'm sure they would do an exceptional job.

I agree, meeting an army that large on the ground is a bad idea. It would probably boil down to SK and the U.S lobbing missiles at NK ground forces until their million man army is whittled down to nothing.

It's unrelated. This missle test has been scheduled and in the works for a while.

China warned the US against any military acts in their "exclusive economic zone" without permission. But it seems the upcoming drills extend also into this "zone". Let's see what will happen next. I hope US/SK doesn't give in to any dumb agreements and decides to cancel the event. I already bought popcorn and reserved a seat in the first row for the next four days!

While the US are doing war maneuvers in the area a couple of stray cruise missles armed with nukes in NK's direction could easily be explained away as tech malfucntion surely...........oops sorry guys we'll get the techies onto it.

NK is probably ready for an immediate military response. The war games in the West side might be a diversion to retaliation from the East side. Hope NK gets everything they have coming to them.

Easily resolved. Hold the war games a bit further South. Seems like us Americans and the South Koreans actually want war.

The best thing to do when the north tries to invade the south is to open up the DMZ and let them in. As soon as they see what life in the south is really like, they will realize all they've been taught is a huge lie, and immediately defect to the south.

What made the North Koreans so furious was the confession and apology owed by the US of installing a puppet military dictaorship in the south and occupations of the peninsula for 60 years! Pay back time is due....

Shinjukuboy. That is really about the size of it, isn't it? The LAST thing Nork wants to do is let its people free to do anything, even if it is killing South Koreans. Your little theory is not without precedent either. Armies that fought against Napoleon went home grumpy, even when they won, because they saw something that looked like democracy and "equality" and could not get that image out of their heads. Free men fighting and dying for an idea and not a cult. Tsarist Russia also showed that if you don't take care of your own people, the day you declare war is the day the revolution begins.

The Norks are in a bind, and flailing to get out. They like nukes, artillery, and missiles because they keep the world out and north koreans in.

Maybe this is it: the US and SK and maybe others think that there is a power transition going on, maybe not too smoothly, and they sense a moment of weakness. With the right push, maybe the whole NK regime will collapse like a house of cards. People on the ground talking about lots of discontent? The currency replacement fiasco? Maybe this is a chance to sweep it all away. China's a little too quiet, even though it would suffer millions of North Koreans flooding over its border.

No way. Won´t happen as long as China supports NK.

The only thing North Korea can understand is force. A bully only knows that language so I think it's high time we start speaking his language.

I think that's a good idea: have a couple of BBQs going, some beer and female company. The North would drop their weapons in no time and reunification would be a cinch.

Alas, that won't happen anytime soon.

The758 is on to something. Kind of like the collapse of the Berlin wall, but much more interesting and with hotter chicks xD.

Yea this could be it, the fall of NK. China will have no choice but to accept whatever international force hits NK.

Im amazed that some people blamed the MoD for waiting 13mins to reply...id applaud the man for thinking the decision through a wee bit first! so this means the new guy wont make the same move?..will he return fire without a thought next time (next week)?? and a crowd of 200 protested...oh wow 200! thats nothing to take notice of..99.99% of SK folks obviously want peace!

LoL Yep it's funny how some Xinhua-aligned Asian newspapers made the 200-plus protest headline piece.

If you feel sorry for North Korea, send them chocolate. I do. I buy chocolate bars and post them to local schools in Pyongnang. Its our way of showing we care.
