Please note that all 3 Dems are up for re-election. This is no surprise. Dirty Harry is definitely going to be retiring. And even Chuckie from New York is in for a tough fight.

Party affiliation aside, the US should secure its borders, this is a no-brainer. However there are pols on both sides who really don't want to. Dems because they know most Hispanics vote for them, and voter fraud is at an all time high. Voting by Illegals is all too common, and most of those vote Democrat. Republicans because illegals push down labor costs, which is good for business. This infuriates most citizens though, which is why few pols on either side of the aisle want to touch the issue.

Yep. The thing that gets me whenever amnesty is brought up is that it is a spit in the face to every person who put in the work to EARN citizenship.

I've been to two or three naturalization ceremonies and have always been moved by the pride shown by those gaining citizenship. To hand it to others out of expediency is just wrong.

IMO, US can inflate her population to more than 500 million inhabitants. That's the key for facing China and India in the near future, so I am for this proposed amnesty. On the other hand, Mexican violence must be dealt with a deadly blow right now and I am not sure if a fence will contain it.

My sentiments too. I'm all in favor of immigration. The US was built on Immigration. But the idea that people can just hop a fence, and expect to get on welfare, and can expect free medical care, is just wrong.

This is definitely what we've got backwards in Europe.

We need to close off the border first. It's relatively easy to enforce it if you want to. But all this stalling on building a proper border deterrent to stop so many people illegally entering the US.

And this legalizing their illegal entry seems totally like Ronald Reagan. < :-)
