Mehdi Hassan, a highly intelligent and respected journalist in the UK who is also a practicing Muslim and stout defender of Islam had the following to say about rampant anti-Semitism among sections of the Muslim community in the UK - not just the extremists:

'I can’t keep count of the number of Muslims I have come across – from close friends and relatives to perfect strangers – for whom weird and wacky anti-Semitic conspiracy theories are the default explanation for a range of national and international events. Who killed Diana and Dodi? The Mossad, say many Muslims. They didn’t want the British heir to the throne having an Arab stepfather. What about 9/11? Definitely those damn Yehudis. I mean, why else were 4,000 Jews in New York told to stay home from work on the morning of 11 September 2001? How about the financial crisis? Er, Jewish bankers. Obviously. Oh, and the Holocaust? Don’t be silly. Never happened.'

Hasan described this as 'a dirty little secret' among UK Muslims. For many Jews across Europe, anti-Semitism is a real threat and I'd like to see more outrage from Muslim leaders about the fact that these disgusting and dangerous ideas are so commonplace.

The media spin on this event is amazing. I just watched a long segment on the BBC about the shooting, and they stressing the fact that Omar Abdel Hamid El-Hussein was "Danish born" and had a "gang-related" background. Nothing else about the ideology that motivated him. So I take it that being born in Denmark and a gang member makes you want to shoot up kill Mohamed cartoonist events and synagogues???

It's comments like that from Israel which prolongs the feeling that Jewish people are a persecuted minority. Why on Earth would Danish Jews emigrate to Israel because of that attack? As the Danish guy said, Denmark is their country, Israel is probably about as foreign to them as you can get..

Comments like that show a deliberate attempt to prolong a victim mentality throughout the world

Not much of random acts by few criminals, weren't they? The West is experiencing the soft target attacks, for M.E. and Arabia are heading into turmoil. Thanks to Obama's foreign policy, the tougher times are ahead of us. What a shame.

Because islamist attacks on Jewish targets increasing all over Europe, with no end in sight, Europe is simply getting unsafe for Jews. Is it so hard to connect the dots? Of course, Israel is different from Denmark, but it was founded as a state where Jews are safe, which is something that you can say less and less about European countries.

You've got to hand it to fundie Netanyahu. He's pissed off even US Jews along with everyone else in the world.

Israel's very own Ahmedinajad

Yair Melchior, Copenhagen’s chief rabbi, flatly rejected the idea that Jews should leave Denmark. - “The terrorists must not control our lives,” - article

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's "invitation" isn't helpful.

Prime Minister Netanyahu should make a call for cooperation and calm. Freedom of Religion in Denmark is no less important than Freedom of Religion in Israel.

Abandoning one's home out of fear isn't what the Danes are known for. Again, Prime Minister Netanyahu has let his rhetoric trump reason. When a mad man kills the answer isn't announcing victory for insanity and running away. The Danes are far more sophisticated than the condescension of using this senseless murder as call to raise the white flag.

Dane Jews are teaching Netanyahu very important lesson. Just like Denemark Israel should be a secular state, unlike the states that call themselves Muslim republic or Muslim country Israel should not call it self a Jewish state. One does not have to be a Jew to be a good Israeli citizen and one does not have to be an Israeli to be a Jew. Danish Jews are Jews but they are also Danes and proud of it both ways.
