A rarity for a producer to take to acting, but he made this transition so comfortably. I always enjoyed seeing in films and TV - he genuinely looked liked he loved doing what he did.

I always got him confused with the other great Sydney director--Sydney Lumet. Both are/were actors' directors. The movies will always be with us. I especially liked his nefarious character in Eyes Wide Shut.

He directed my favorite movie of all time, Jeremiah Johnson.
