I'm counting on Hamas to throw their traditional wrench into the machine. It wouldn't be the same if they just, you know, negotiate a peace. Then there would be nothing for these career troublemakers to do. Good on these countries pledging but I think they also know that Hamas will throw their wrench and they won't have to commit all that money they said they would.

Hamas is already shooting rockets at Israel again. Never mind, they´ll get their 5 billion in aid anyway, which will buy a lot of Quassams.
Of course, the "international community" will find some sort of fig leaf... like handing the cash to the Red Crescent first, before it goes to Hamas.
No doubt about it: the glorious Jihad is on a roll!

Could it be because of the blockade? If Israel wants an end to the rockets, they should stop treating the Palestinians like cattle.

Hamas needs to accept the neccessity of making peace with Israel and living side-by-side with the two independent countries in peace. No one is suggesting they accept things as they are now...
I only hope if and when Hamas really gets on the peace wagon (train?) that Netanyahu doesn't attempt to derail it.

sabiwabi,
Well, Hamas' unwillingness to negotiate with Israel came before the blockade, as did rockets from Hamas. So, no, I don't think so...

sabiwabi:
No, it couldn´t be. If Hamas wants to "end the blockade" (which, by the way, allows humanitarian goods, oil, and electricity in), it could stop shooting rockets at Israel, accept Israels right to exist, and release the Israeli soldier it kidnapped.
The way it works for Hamas, they get rewarded for aggression. I don´t know of any other place that expects concessions as a reward for aggression.

Kinniku,
How long has the American government been asking the Israelis to stop stealing land in the West Bank and expanding settlements? Forever! And the Jews keep stealing land. You can't make peace with a people that believe they can win through attrition. Hamas will keep firing rockets so long as religious jews continue to expropriate land in the name of their evil god.

Bebert,
How many settlements are there in Gaza now? How many settlements are in the Sinai? That is how many will be in the West Bank when the Palestinians make peace with Israel. It does not matter how many settlements are there now if they end up being given back to the Palestinians.
They are Israelis. It is about time you attempted to recognize the difference. This is a conflict between Israelis and Palestinians.
This can be said of both sides. I see you only see one side...I wonder why?
Oh, here it is...
You could probably due with a dose of anti-discrimination serume or something. Hamas has never express a true wish to make peace with Israel. Hamas' actions have not made things better for Palestinians. Only peace that leads to a free and independent Palestine living side-by-side will achieve this. When this happens, I will send chills of glee down my spine to know how their happiness will annoy you...

So long as there is an "Infidel" Jewish State in the Middle East.
But the rockets are coming from Gaza where there are no Jewish settlements, or Jews allowed for that matter. It used to be "if the Israelis would leave Gaza, then there will be peace." The Israelis left and the rocket attacks on Israel only escalated. There is no pleasing Muslim Arab terrorists, only eliminating them.
Right from the pages of stormfront.org. Hehe.

How can Hamas refuse this deal?

“How can Hamas refuse this deal?”
Hamas has a single raison d’etre & that is the destruction of Israel, take that away & there is no Hamas.
Remember these are the same people that fired rocket after rocket after rocket until they got the war they wanted & then put their own children in the line of fire so that they could hold up the dead bodies for the cameras. Do you really believe that such trivia as money & peace mean anything to such people? The Gasa is blockaded because of hamas, remove hamas & the borders would be opened. Only Sabiwabi seems to be blind to this simple fact.

Hmm...putting conditions on Hamas before they will send money...wait a second...I think the international community is issuing a bailout to Hamas 0_o...
And on a more serious note, bebert: Obvious nazi is obvious, be gone cruel skinhead!
