You'd think a story like this would put a dent in the ability of Europeans to lecture other nations about fear-mongering. But my guess is that it won't.

In one opinion piece he wrote “I’ve had enough of Islam in the Netherlands; let not one more Muslim immigrate,” adding “I’ve had enough of the Quran in the Netherlands: Forbid that fascist book.”

Wilders and the Freedom Party has invigorated an anti-Islamic presentiment in Europe. The trial is a boon for Wilder's cause... it'll do nothing but make him (and his political party) more mainstream-- and god forbid, endear him more to the growing nationalistic fervor in the continent.

Ironically though him and his ilks are nothing more than by-products of the multicultural doctrine and state-sanctioned 'political correctness' that's suppose to protect people of 'other races, beliefs and religions'. And whilst the elder statesman of Europe's far-right Jean-Marie Le Pen have in the past articulated his beliefs on a Christian Europe... you'd hear none of that from the publicity-seeking Wilders.

For Wilders and the next-Gens of European far-right, it's all about the numbers, not the message. And yet they in the establishment would still insist on 'politically correctness' and the multicultural doctrine; somehow failing to grasp that the far-right puzzle, at its core, is pretty basic and simple.

Those two statements in the beginning of the story are considered "hate speech" in The Netherlands?? Wow, I guess all that legal weed and prostitution has given everyone so many warm-and-fuzzies that they've all gotten too soft.

Agree with the 11:30 comment, that is some pretty tame hate speech. Looks more like some political games going on, judging from the info at the end of the article.
