In Moscow, the patriarch of the Russian Church, Kirill, in a prayer for Ukraine called on God in turn to put “an end to the designs of those who want to destroy Holy Russia”.

Kirill does not specify who 'those who want to destroy Holy Russia' are. Could this be people from within Russia? Besides I can't see anything 'Holy' about Russia, now or ever in its 'glorious' past.

What a farce these so-called "religions" are showing themselves to be. And what grubs their respective leaders are revealing themselves as with their aggressive rhetoric. Give me the calmness and respect for their fellow man of an atheist any day!

Ukrainian people are beginning to understand the harsh political realities of world governments insatiable desire in the 21st century to use destabilising means to level historic claims to territory.

Washington has warned Moscow that Ukraine is in a “pivotal period” as pro-Russian rebels there refuse to comply with a Geneva accord reached Thursday by Russia, the U.S., Ukraine and the EU to disarm and leave occupied public buildings. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry told Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov that “full and immediate compliance” was needed within “the next few days”.

What crass assumption to think that the cold war was about some ideological battle of philosophies, when in all reality it about territory, well that is until the unfashionable economical realities start to hit home. All the huffing and puffing about the evils of capitalism are conspicuous by their absence. When the dust has settled the Soviet Union disintegrated because of economic necessity. The Soviet Union was a victim of the economic costs of a prolonged arms race.

The pro-Russian's separatists in East Ukraine are understandably confused, the belief that becoming part of the Russian federation would solve everything is a seductive one, the separatist where all geared up in the belief that life would be better.

The delusion is the belief that time can be brought that will somehow trump the historical wheeling and dealing . The Russia Federation bluff has been called, it's sanctions and all that entails. For Crimea the Russia Federation will have a uphill struggle to maintain any semblance to a recognised level of economic stability or be able to maintain even current standards of living.
