Understand this people: "One of the biggest fears of protesters is that if Mubarak or his close confidant Suleiman remain in power, they will exact revenge for the humiliating demonstrations by rounding up protesters and torturing them. Many protesters have reported seeing undercover security forces in the crowds every day, photographing the demonstrators with cell phone cameras."

Yep, Mubarak is in the driver's seat. He has control of the army, unlike the guy in Tunisia. Now he is just waiting the protesters out. Then after the world's attention moves on to the next crisis spot, he will put the boot in.

I heard something on the radio or TV this morning, and I hardly ever listen to the radio much less TV.. the speaker was speaking to Christian Amapour, and he said something to the effect "The US has reluctantly accepted stability over democracy and that really hit home.
I just hope the people of Egypt make the right choice from this point. But it seems to the only organization that has anything going for it is the Muslim Brotherhood. Damn!

Concessions with the Muslim Brotherhood? Yeah, world peace is just around the corner.

The Muslim Brotherhood themselves claim to not seek power, and the Egyptian people do not seem to consider them such a big influence. Its the western MSM who are focusing on this group. I wonder why. To give them more credibility? To scare the west? Who knows?

They have made no such claim. In fact, they have said the opposite. The MSM (you have to be kidding with the blame the media thing, BTW) focuses on what they think will catch people's attention. Religious extremists who say they are ready to rip up the peace agreement with Israel catch people's attention. Let them get a foot hold and it will be Gaza and Lebanon all over again. Not a good thing.

You are mistaken, they have. Its all over the news.
Yeah this typical zionist paranoia/propaganda does indeed catch most Americans' attention. But how can you talk about religious extremism when its clear that this protest is made up of Muslims, Christians, and atheists working together to free their country.
Last week, Mubarak's thugs attacked the protesters during prayer. Now we have Christians surrounding and protecting the Muslims during their prayer sessions.
And we have thousands of Muslims joining the Christians' Sunday Mass.
“In the name of Jesus and Muhammad we unify our ranks,” Father Ihab al-Kharat said in his sermon. “We will keep protesting until the fall of the tyranny.”
May God bless the Egyptian people.

I never said the protests were about religious extremism. I said the Muslim Brotherhood was.
Didn't you just tell us we should not believe the news. Which is it?
Muhammad Ghannem of the Muslim Brotherhood reportedly told Al- Alam that the Suez Canal should be closed immediately, and that the flow of gas from Egypt to Israel should cease “in order to bring about the downfall of the Mubarak regime.” He added that “the people should be prepared for war against Israel,” saying the world should understand that “the Egyptian people are prepared for anything to get rid of this regime.”
Yeah, they sound like nice peaceful people.
BTW, the Brotherhood is saying they don't want to be a part of the INTERIM government. However, they have been very clear that they do want to play a big part in the permanent one.

No, you are mistaken. I stated "its the western MSM who are focusing on this group".
Lately, I've been watching RT News and Al Jazeera (English), much more balanced news. But in this case, I have even noticed that fact (MB not seeking power) on either BBC or CNN.
Yeah, they do sound like wonderful people. BTW, what is wrong with saying “the people should be prepared for war against Israel”. You do know that Israel has a habit of attacking its neighbors, so they should be prepared. They have NOT said “the people should be prepared to attack Israel”.

American MSM pundits continue to tell us that Egyptians just want Western-style pluralistic democracy. No one actually on the scene in Egypt, however, is calling for that.
Ahlul Bayt News Agency, Feb 6: "Egyptians demand restoration of Islam" Ahmad Mersi told al-Alam news network that the Egyptian revolutionary people demand a restoration of Islamic rules in the country andan [sic] ouster of Mubarak's despotic rule.

Muslim Brotherhood's slogan is, "Islam is the solution." The solution to what?

BurakuminDes
The solution to combatting freedom, democracy and equal rights for women.

Some seem to not have noticed (or choose not to notice) that Muslims, Christians, and atheists are united in this protest for freedom.

Mubarak's in a position a lot like the fish my grandfather taught me to gut; when I was surprised at its struggles, he said: he's dead; he just doesn't know it yet.

Al Jazeera talks about the Brotherhood in exactly the same way as I have been talking about them. Recent articles mention clearly the threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood. As to how wonderful they sound, was it not you who was telling us we should be careful of the Muslim Brotherhood because they were a Western construct or something along those lines? Maybe you should make up your own mind before suggesting how wonderful they are now. In addition, the Muslim Brotherhood has suggested attacks on Israel on numerous occasions. Why not actually find out about the organization before you comment?
Who the heck has not noticed this? The concern, one raised by Al Jazeera among other news outlets, is that the Muslim Brotherhood is in the strongest position to take over because there is no cohesive opposition other than them at this time. Please do not make this out to be something it is not. No one is suggesting Egyptians of all faiths are not out there protesting. What I am saying is that one concern is that the Muslim Brotherhood is waiting in the wings to take advantage of the situation. Considering you were cautioning us about the MB just a couple of days ago, your own protests are quite quizzical.

I tell people I trust Al Jazeera. If they raise an objection to that I ask them why they don't trust people from foreign cultures, why they rely on propaganda. I throw "zionist" sometimes. Still gives that cooler than thou feeling.

Indeed, various opposition movements, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, are carefully groomed by Western intelligence to come into play when it is time for a regime change. And I don't trust them all that much, especially considering how much the MSM mentions them. But so many times when I heard that group mentioned on AlJazeera or RT News, they mention that it is just one group among many, its not that big and influential.
I am sure the US has many options; they will certainly not let go of their control over this country.

So, which group, in your opinion, is not being carefully groomed by Western intelligence. It seems you have ruled out everyone concerned.
You just said the Muslim Brotherhood was wonderful and were defending them and their words. Now you are saying you don't trust them. You are not making much sense. When RT or AlJazeera mentions the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the largest opposition block, they do indeed mention concerns raised about them. You are mistaken in your assessment of their reports.

"> You just said the Muslim Brotherhood was wonderful
Where did you get that? Never said that.
You too watch AlJazeera and RT News? Wow, we have so much in common!
Indeed, they tend to infiltrate all sides. Who knows which ones are deeply infiltrated. But the ones in power certainly are, and they must go, now!

Apparently not. I actually watch the reports and listen to the content. The Muslim Brotherhood is dangerous. You said so at first. Then you said they were wonderful. Then you said they were suspect. I have said they were dangerous from the beginning.
So, you don't trust anyone? That is some dark perspective you have there.
