Now this is quite old news, in certain areas there are the wonderful "coptic" christians that live in a type of religious war with the islamic community. Part of it is because the local islamic community doesn't like anyone believing and saying there is anything better or even equal to their religion or "god". The coptics aren't all that great either, but have some issues of their own. At least they are not as militant. Its pretty much a "they attack us, we attack them" mentality. The region is pretty messed up to begin with. Islamic fundamentalists really don't help either, trying to instill militant governments where ever they get a foothold in african regions.

The Coptic population is now down to 10%, facing a muslim majority, ever increasing intimidation, and legal discrimination by the muslim authorities at every turn.

Par for the course for every country where islam meets non-islam. Europe can see its future here.

I don´t subscribe to shooting 7 people dead as as viable "response" to a rumour, do you? Funny thing, you notice the "rampaging" (with inflammatory slogans like "Stop the discrimination", but you didn´t notice the mass murder that preceded it.

you are actually justifying the Coptic's retaliation in the time honoured fundie tradition?

People can only take so much Islamic terrorism. It's not like the Egyptian government is going to do anything about it. The real question here is how many more thousands of articles involving Islamic terrorist acts is it going to take for you to wake up?
