Figures as much...No surprise here. Any apologists mind informing us more on the "tolerance" of Islamic run countries? Turkey still isn't a part of the EU... I wonder why?
Elton John and a whole lot of other singers need to take a pass on these countries that have no interest in supporting human rights, especially when its religiously motivated.

Good all-round description of what is happening there and the tensions within Morocco and the greater Arab and Islamic world, not so very different from what has been happening in the 'West'. It must take courage to step in there and do this, and everyone will surely be using this as an opportunity and a test case for their own particular agenda. Of course, it could also be a catalyst for things to move in the opposite direction to that which he desires.

Problem is not homosexuality, which is tolerated and practiced, but in soft whispers in the arabic world, but Elton John's buoyancy, the frivolity, this is something that a lot of homosexuals don't like, or accept.

I thought he was famous for his rather nice music.
If he encourages people to take up singing and playing the piano, that's one thing. I cannot seriously see any young people wanting to look and act like a middle-aged baldie with a paunch.
Quite so.

Glad to hear that most of Morocco supports having him play. It's only the "Islamists" in the north of that country that are against it. I say good for the ordinary Moroccan. Resist the Islamists will or you will be totally consumed by it like the Germans with the Nazi rule. The only thing for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing. Moroccans can heed those words of Winston Churchill. I just hope all of the Muslim world will do the same. Then they will gain my respect.

Rather nice? It's fantastic.
Sounds like Mounir is just worried about getting upstaged.

I think an aging, bitchy queen like elton john is probably the least qualified person to help out gay rights. His music does nothing for me either....

No doubt.

Let's not forget that Americans used to be upset by straight sexuality not so long ago. Elvis Presley was shown on television from the waist up because his hips were considered too sexy. Jimi Hendrix was knocked off a Monkey's tour because his act was considered obscene.
Christians can be just as prudish and narrow-minded as Muslims. Don't blame Islam.

Cleo:
Cleo, Elton is not a baldie. He does have hair on the top of his head and it's going to last for a long long time. And I should hope so - he paid good money for it.
Hmm, I guess there's no chance of Madonna, Christina and Britney going to Morocco together then.

His appearance at the Harley 100th celebration in Milwaukee drew outcry as well. Sir Elton is terrible regardless of your cultural beliefs.
