The Muslims are concerned? Give me a break. These scanners do not create pinup posters for those that like them. It is high tech security.

Someone will be making a little fortune with these scanners!

Anyway, if someone is willing to blow themselves up, they are certainly willing to swallow the explosives, just as drug mules do. These scanners are just going to piss off lots of people.

Exactly. In fact, I'm amazed this hasn't happened yet.

Thats easy Alt, first, swallowing certain things can cause poisoning before you even complete making an explosive, even if in a plastic bag how long will it take to go through the digestive tract as well as how do you get it out the other end safely and in tact? Most explosives needs some type of ignition too. Not the same as drugs since drugs are already made in full form, where combustibles needs mixtures or combinations if you don't have it already made in a small enough form to actually swallow.

You are correct. Who needs oil now!?

[being pushed by the Obama administration] --- Did you read that? I can't believe our wonderboy has turned on us and is now enforcing even more draconian measures than the worst president in history GW Bush!!! When will his tyranny stop!!???!!

have those who have been profiled strip in private in a room with thermal sensors monitoring all their moves.

You know if you don't want to deal with the pat downs and the scanners, then walk or drive. As long as there are people like Abdulmutallab and his Al-Quaeda running buddies, then they will try to stop them. < :-)

Holy cr@pol@!! adaydream said something I can agree with!!

Yeah, but adaydream is only saying it because Obama is getting tough on Al-Quaeda. He used to defend Al-Quaeda when Bush was tough on them.

Yeesh Helter, let it go. In your world all you see is democrat or republican. There are more independants now that are liberal in some ideas and conservative on others.

But at least Obama is getting the gist that terrorism does exist and he's doing more of what should have been done the first time around. Tighten the countries defense against these types of attacks instead of pretending if we play nice they'll just go away. Looks like some countries in the EU still need to understand that.

Some parts of Europe still see it as mainly US' problem. US' problem is convincing those other nations, or the US can just go it alone again.

I am perfectly cool with these scanners. I have nothing to hide, not from my doctors, my friends, my family, the strangers I bathe with. What's the big deal with the so-called 'invasiveness'. I attach more importance to reducing risks when flying. Are the opposing nations waiting for another disaster before coming to their senses?

I am more concerned with the unnecessary radiation than someone looking at my body.

Me thinks that is a risk suicide bombers are willing to take.

The EU is going to have to play tough to keeping bombs off planes. If it takes body scanners, it takes body scanners. Want to come to the US, either go through the scanners or swim. < :-)

    Oh the IRONY!!

Spain and Germany, the staunch fascists back in the day, are now the only ones holding out! This shows just how far things have gone down the tubes. We have to rely on the children of Franco and Hitler to keep Big Brother out of our britches whenever we go to the airport. Oh man, you can't MAKE this stuff up! I see that Italy has surrendered, as usual, and France is waffling.

    How did everyone miss this?

What a world. Japan is a champion for peace. Spain and Germany are fighting for freedom, human rights, and protection of privacy. Meanwhile, the US and UK are hell-bent on limiting freedoms and rights wherever possible, and coercing the rest of the world to conform to their dictates. China is imposing unequal treaties on the imperialist aggressors. Russia is managing resources instead of grabbing them. Dubai is in a cash crunch.

And a Nigerian student is manipulating the security policies of the most powerful nation in the world.

I hope this issue gets all of the debate it deserves.

"We have to rely on the children of Franco and Hitler to keep Big Brother out of our britches whenever we go to the airport."

Either you're joking or you haven't seen the inside of an airport in the last 20 years....

This is just one of those things. I have been through those scanners and do not feel violated. Must be real BORING all day just seeing those images. They see the images only and not images and person. They are not close to being able to see a real naked body. This is technology on the move. Someday soon there will be a device to see through clothes without the distortion. What do we do then? We must live in the world around us. The pace of change never pauses to change mo matter how much we wish it.

“Inayat Bunglawala, a spokesman with the Muslim Council of Britain, said the Islamic group has privacy concerns about full body scanners but is not taking a position on the issue until more details emerge.”

“We have concerns for both Muslim men and Muslim women,” he said. “They must be covered up in front of strangers. There are concerns about what exactly the scanners will reveal.”

“There are concerns about what exactly the scanners will reveal.” Yes, that is the whole point, so far the only people who want to blow themselves up have been Muslims and the airports want to reveal what they in particular are carrying under their clothes. If Inayat Bunglawala and his friends did something positive about the lunatics in their religion of peace rather than work against their host counties we might not need these scanners.

"countries such as Spain and Germany calling the scanners intrusive"

Sounds like the world's president needs to make another trip to Berlin.

Right on Grafton. Well said. The EU will eat itself with political correctedness if the mussies don't get em first.
