I am sure this is exactly what the Teheran regime want, they want to be able to say to their people, look at the evil Christian WEST! See how they are trying to control the Islamic Republic, blah, blah, blah, so they can get their radical students all angry and go attack the UK, etc..embassies and make themselves feel powerful, I do hope the USA does not fall for this ploy by Iran.

The sanctions are first steps to war. The E.U. and US have been rattling this sword for some time, just egging on the Iranians, picking ANOTHER fight. Let's see, US military gets kicked out of Iraq, so before the troops and equipment get too far away, stir up a different nearby hornets' nest. Oh, that's right, war is good for the economies... The Iranians I know are friendly towards others, including Americans, but not keen on interventionist governments. In 1953, Iran had a democratically elected president UNTIL the US instigated a coup which put the US puppet SHAH in dictatorial power. Intervention in other countries' governments foments hatred. When will the imperialists ever learn???

Japan is importing 80% of oil supply from Iran.
Hope Noda and his administration are already preparing for the worst and start implementing a risk avert strategy just in case. This is where Japan fails a big time, I am afraid. For some reason, you guys always put whole dozen eggs in one basket. That's why Japan is very inflexible for new changes in geopolitics.

I'm hoping that the government gets it's act together before the disaster arrives. With the stream of opposition rants and issues lately, I think this would be another problem that would be bypassed until it's very late ... as usual.

I agree Eleven, not getting oil supply from Iran means no blood supply to your heart in economy. It simply dies.
I need to emphasize how Japan was forced to go to the WWII when the rest of world imposed the oil sanction against Japan. People have a very short memory of history.

Well I support surgical strikes on the nuclear facilities that are racing against the clock to put this regime at the nuclear negotiation table. It's as clear as day to anyone not in a knitting class tutting at imperialist dogs. Personally I'd call that egging us all on but that's just me. They were offered a light water reactor but obviously that wouldn't help their pursuits of (not) building a nuclear weapon.
The US shot us all in the foot with the Iraq stupidity. The threat of force is off the table, only actual force now can bend the religious cranks running Iran to the will of abandoning the nuclear weapon. It's a shame the first bombs dropped can't have Bush, Cheney and the rest of that administration strapped to them for castrating the international community in such a manner.
