"Haiti’s former dictator Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier, who ruled the impoverished Caribbean nation with an iron fist from 1971 until his ouster in 1986, died on Saturday of a heart attack. He was 63."

The guy ruled Haiti from the tender age of 20.

If you haven't read The Comedians (1966) by Graham Greene, you should. It is a most terrifying portrayal of Papa Doc, but it could portray any dictator or fascist state.

Good riddance to an evil man.

Good riddance to bad rubbish.

If he was a dictator that held off Islamists, he would be celebrated.

@lostrune2, are you kidding? Islamists in Haiti? A veiled reference to Hussein, Assad, or somebody else?

As it was, he was flown out of Haiti on a U.S. plane, allowed to settle in France with his family, and spent the last years of his life living freely in Port Au Prince. Sounds like he got treated like royalty his whole life.

TorafusuTorasan, let me rephrase that:

IF he was a dictator that held off Islamists, he would be celebrated.
