I don't believe any of this. They are just creating excuses to further spy on their citizens, and people around the world.

The FBI has pressured tech companies to remove encryption that gives users privacy protections that cannot be broken by law enforcement??
If it cannot be broken, then how did "law enforcement" break it?

If it can counter and hinder the rise of Islamic terrorism, I'm all for it. I don't have anything to hide.
CrazyJoe
I personally foiled 3 terrorists plots just yesterday morning. I can make stuff up too...

It's scary. The police have to be lucky every day in foiling terrorist plots, but terrorists only have to be lucky once.

'If it can counter and hinder the rise of Islamic terrorism, I'm all for it. I don't have anything to hide.'
A CCP sympathizer couldn't have put it any better.

Yup, I saw the young policemen standing in front of the koban this morning thwarting several terrorist attacks just by saying Ohayo Gozaimus. All the terrorists turned tail and ran off strait away.

Good old, handy, anonymous, unverifiable "national security sources." Yuh, right! This is irresponsible reporting, even for Reuters.
The FBI has a track record of targeting the "disgruntled" who would participate in a terrorist plot if given the opportunity. In many cases, the FBI recruits potential terrorists and provides them with plans, equipment, and weapons -- before finally shutting them down and getting credit for thwarting another attack. That's how they keep the budget cow mooing when is there is no real terrorist threat.

FBI/CIA/NSA....you have a thankless job. When you fail and people die they will call you incompetent. When you succeed and prevent attacks people will say it's just a power grab.

I wonder if these alleged foiled attacks weren't really just more of the same "plots" that were actually planned by government agents as traps, like we have seen numerous times before.

"If it can counter and hinder the rise of Islamic terrorism, I'm all for it. I don't have anything to hide"
Exactly, exactly.
"I personally foiled 3 terrorists plots just yesterday morning. I can make stuff up too"
As if Islamic State or their supporters were never planning anything dastardly against the United States, lol.

Heh, just because ya are paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get ya

Maybe so, but national security should have first dibbs.
Maybe so, but if the clinton administration had any concern whatsoever the USS Cole bombing & Black Hawk down could've been properly "handled".
Frederic Bastiat
Yup, completely unverifiable claim.
HonestDictator
The CIA and FBI have been around for longer than I've been born and many of our president's have been in office. As long as they can do their job without becoming oppressive, let them do their job.
lucabrasi
@Honest
Unlike the grammar police, eh?
"... our president's...."
You're going down.... ; )

I am more concerned about security FROM the government.
