75 year old dentist? Plus is this just a scare - can't they investigate whether patients who attended these clinics had the disease?

Holy cow. This is beyond malpractice, this is criminal! No drama, like hell yes drama. If only a small portion of the people that could be infected are positive, how many others have they passed the HIV onto?

Regarding hepatitis, one Japanese doctor I know, who specializes in blood diseases, told me that he believed that some of his patients contracted hepatitis at their barber shops. They got it through the straight razors which the barbers use for shaving customers. He believed that the blades were usually just rinsed off and placed in a glass of warm water, thus, not properly sterilized before use on the next unwary customer.
