BZ to the police officer for noticing the detonator and warning the crowd. IMO though he should have shot her dead immediately upon sighting the detonator. He may have been able to prevent her from detonating the explosives at all...

Iraq win over China was great news, but not for iraq's anti-govt fighters. The rebels use Iraq win as tool for their rebellion.
Iraqis/Nuri maliki must reach a ceasefire deal between govt and anti govt factions, only then peace and oil rich wealth, will make iraq GDP go higher by billions.
Like in any war, warring factions must get, a difficult ceasfire peace, fruitive deal going strong. I don't think any sides like the war and the miseries.

Saddam made quick business with the jihadist activists. If you are arguing that a dictatorship is the only way to deal with radical islam, you might have a point.

Why blow people up with car bombs when you have the entire military at your disposal to kill thousands in a single day. In the end all you're saying is that you prefer the type of murder that isn't on your front page every day, even if it's a much higher number.

If the Iraqi's were that pissed off under saddam's rule - following ppayne's earlier thoughts, Iraqi's would have been imploding to portest sadam's rule.

Actually, I argued long ago that leaving a nasty dictator in power to crap on the Islamic fundies was far better than the un-known....as we see more and more each day. It's probably best not to go own this road as the invasions' supporters don't like being reminded the so-called war on terror has actually fuelled it 100 fold!

I mean, you'd have thought the picture you always paint of Saddam's toture-fest nightmare of Iraqi's running in the street with hacked-off appendedges in tow and babies lying dead on the floor after being ripped from their incubators would have had Iraqi's suiciding themselves in protest at his regime?
Let's not forget every Iraqi family has(d) an AK47 at home.
