Calm down Fidel. You helped ensure there was an embargo for all those years but any 'compensation' will come from now on when tourism (=dollars) and trade flourish.

No doubt YOU've been sitting pretty the WHOLE time.

Castro is an a$$. His totalitarian state alligned with the USSR sealed his USA connections until now. The man is another evil dictator willing to murder opposition to silence them

Well, Fidel should go and try to collect that debt.

It is funny that property rights are so important to a dictator who has deprived so many people of their property -- and their lives.

"Relations with the United States were broken in 1961 as Castro led Cuba rapidly into a socialist model allied with the Soviet Union." - article

And maybe a little event called "The Bay of Pigs", based on CIA's 1897 maps of the landing zone and well understood by Ike, Nixon and Dulles before they delayed leaving Kennedy holding the carcass of failed intelligence and alcohol driven certainty.

Nothing fades so well as untold history. That's what AWOL Bush and the GOP-Tea are counting on.

The US owes that poor little dump, nada!

Fidel outlived all of those American presidents and CIA directors that tried to kill him.

Come and get it, Fidel. Lord knows you (personally) have the cash to hire the best lawyers in the world.

What a piece of garbage. Unbelievable!

The Cuban government knows they can't do much on this since they also owe hefty debt for seizing private properties of Cuban dissidents.

"U.S. has hefty debt to Cuba"

What! If anything, Cuba has a heft debt to the U.S. for denying American companies access to the Cuban market!

Sounds like a tired song. He should've cashed those US Treasury checks for the Gitmo base lease. He has only to blame himself and the Russians for the sorry economic state of Cuba.

Happy birthday, Fidel!! You're awesome!!

Happy birth day, Mr. Dictorship! Some guy grow old but not wiser than he was young. Fidel Castro shouldn't have messed with his powerful neighbor in first place. Fidel Castro had tried to deploy Russian's Missiles on land of Cuba to please his boss Russia and he had threatened US national security. It was his first mistake. Fidel Castro was like a puppy to Nikita Khrushchev and to support his Communist Russian boss’ hostility toward capitalist America he had scarified and pawn Cuba peoples and then make enemy to its neighbor. Fidel Castro should be tried in military court with treason like former Romanian President Nicolae Ceaușescu but it will never happen in Cuba.

The Cuba problem was his fault. However Fidel Castro seems to be he had done nothing wrong and proud for sending Cuban peoples to poverty.

Fidel Castro should blame himself for failure of Cuba economy and poor living standard of Cuban peoples instead of blaming American for trade embargo on his country. It seems to be Fidel Castro doesn't learn about why Communism has failed because of everything in country was control by crazy one person dictatorship and no one has daring to correct his mistake because he had put them in prison and tortured for given good advice to him. Fidel Castro took no responsible for failure of Cuban economy and failure to support poverty stricken Cuban peoples’ lives.

Socialists are always building house in the air and given fault hope to their followers. The big problem was they never confess about their mistake and they never try to correct their mistake and keep walking on wrong path of road even thought they knew it, they were on wrong path of the road. It was one of dishonesty and dumb mentality of Socialist leaders.

Cuban peoples must prepare for another pain once country is opening to outside world because the Government will ceases Libreta de Abastecimiento Ration system soon and majority Cuban peoples will be struggling for their daily basic foods like poor peoples from other former Socialist nations.
