There may very well have been a person who fits the description of Jesus living in the settlement about 2000 years ago.
So what?
If any undesirable truths are found upon further excavations, they will be quickly covered up or removed for safekeeping to Rome.

impoverished? I did not read that they found bank books or anything. Chalk vessels. I would like to find out more information on this, as I do pottery and find it hard to believe that anyone would make chalk pots.

Hey Goddog, keep in mind the standards of BC and the standards of modern pottery... they're not going to have the same knowledge or tools that you do.
Anyways, this is rather interesting. The more we find out about really ancient societies and cultures the more interesting things we can learn about them and what things we may have forgotten that may actually help us out in the future.

not far from the spot where the Archangel Gabriel revealed to Mary that she would give birth to the boy = not far from the spot where the Archangel Gabriel is said to have revealed to Mary that she would give birth to the boy
News is facts, not superstition and legend.
Surprising that this has only come to light now, though. You would have thought the place would have already been gone over with a fine tooth-comb.
