Australia always gets hammered by nature one way or another in summer. Usually, it's droughts and bushfire savaging the rural areas, and now this. Most people had forgotten what heavy rains were. That's how long it has been since this sort of rainfall has been recorded.

But it happens every year in Queensland. I was once stuck there in a small town for 2 weeks some years ago. Even 2 years ago, my friend's cellar was completely flooded, we worked for days to clean it up and that was only a small downpour.

It happened 2 years back when I was in Brisbane, the first 4 days were thunderstorms and torrential downpour, a few homes were destroyed. Still it made for some amazing lightning storms.
