The best part of 60 Minutes was Andy's three minutes.

    Loved this guy!

From Andy: The 50-50-90 rule: Anytime you have a 50-50 chance of getting something right, there's a 90% probability you'll get it wrong.

Very true. Often the rest of the show wasn't worth watching, but Rooney was, even when you disagreed with what he was saying.

Growing up I learned from you that there was always more to news, surveys, and poll numbers. I am sure you had a similar effect on many who are now thinking more critically had they not heard you on Sunday evenings. Thank you and R.I.P.

Otsukare-sama, Mr. Rooney, and RIP. Hadn't watched the show in ages, but missed the commentary.

60 minutes has not been the same since he left. It is not worth watching without Andy Rooney. Andy Rooney was very special and unique. I wonder if we will be able to find anyone to replace him for the 60 minutes. Probably not.

Loved your wit and sarcasm while growing up. It was a pleasure to have known you, Mr. Rooney, even if only through the television set.

R.I.P. Andy. You are certainly a true American Icon. The best part about his work is that you gave an entertaining way of looking at big and small things in life. Even if you don't agree with him, at least he makes you think about things much deeper.

In his final broadcast, Rooney spoke -- in his typically pric'kly style -- of his relationship with his audience. "I spent my first 50 years trying to become known as a writer and the next 30 trying to avoid being famous," he said. "I walk down the street or go to a football game and people shout, 'Hey Andy." I hate that."

Still, he allowed a moment of warmth and gratitude. "All this time I've been paid to say what is on my mind in television," he said. "You don't get any luckier than that."

    R.I.P.

When will American tv get really good commentators like Mr.Rooney again??

I hadn't watched in years, but I was lucky enough to catch his final broadcast. I'm not surprised he didn't survive his career by much: he gave everything he had until he had nothing left to give. Rest in Peace, Andy.
