Cho- kimochiwarui!!!

Saville was a creep from way back. And Rolf Harris too, who sang a song at his trial in London recently. He had this song about 40 years ago which went 'Two little boys had two little toys, ...' YUCK!

The scary thing is who is outed next: not that there would be surprises, but the disappointment and disillusionment ...

The saddest thing is how much this kind of thing from these kinds of people can really screw up someone it happens to.

... and they gave Jimmy Saville the keys to the mental hospital ...!!!!!

Saw Rolf Harris at a pantomime many years ago and he was just a famous has-been comedian.

As for Jimmy Saville, never liked the look of him from day one. Not for a moment. He must have been very clever and devious to play two games at once like that. He was so forceful that he could work his way into positions of trust and people would doubt themselves first, before questioning what they must surely have seen and heard and suspected.

The NSPCC was established in London as a result of the 1889 Prevention of Cruelty to Children Act. NSPCC has helped more than 10 million children.

NSPCC report states that the earliest recorded offence was in 1955 with the most recent in 2009, during this period of time over 500 sexual offences are alleged to have been committed, more victims arecoming forward. Yet NSPCC confidential helpline did not receive calls about Jimmy Savile offences, only after the 2011 BBC Newsnight scandal that victims came forward. A question NSPCC is unwilling to acknowledge.

The NSPCC has statutory powers to take action to safeguard children at risk, however NSPCC has been lacking a role since the creation of local authority children's welfare and services departments. NSPCC, was roundly criticised in the inquiry following the death of Victoria Climbie, yet still devotes less than 50% on child protection and preventative services. More than £12m is spent fund-raising. Another £17m million on campaigning and public education. This money could be re-directed to local authority children's welfare and services departments who are much better placed to decide where the funding will be best served.

The Rolf Harris trial is still ongoing, so it's silly to comment on his guilt or innocence. As for Savile, he was appointed to the Broadmoor role by Edwina Currie, a minister in Thatcher's Cabinet. Savile and Thatcher were friends, he spent many New Year holidays with her. I met Savile once, but fortunately I was too old for him.

What I find depressing is that whole sections of my childhood are becoming no-go zones. Thanks to Gary Glitter there are CDs I feel uncomfortable listening to as I need to skip them. Saville has reduced the number of old pop shows on TV. Thanks to Stuart Hall "It's a Knockout" will never be repeated... ever. I keep expecting Tony Blackburn or Noel Edmunds be arrested next. You never know where Yewtree will stop.

As for Rolf Harris... he was such a huge star when I was a kid... cartoon shows on TV, his paintings on his own variety show. If it turns out he's guilty I'll be gutted. Really used to admire him.

At no point has it been proven in a court of law that Savile has ever commented these offences, and it never will be. The fact that Savile is dead, one would have to return to the 8th century medieval England, when the Catholic Church dug up the dead body of Pope Formosus and put it on trial for perjury. Since when did allegations, claims, rumors, become offenses outside a court of law. A civilized society this would never be enough to find someone guilty and have them forever branded a pedophile. The NSPCC praises the women's bravery who claim to have been assaulted by Savile for coming forward and tell their stories.

But it isn't, making serious accusations against a dead person who is in no position to fight back or plead or prove their innocence decades after the alleged incidents occurred, is the very opposite of bravery. Is this not evidence of a tabloid media pandering to a mob mentality.

I am not defending the vile acts Saviles is accused of, I am defending the principles of a right to a fair trail, dead or alive.

I agree Thunderbird2. I adored 'It's A Knockout' and "Jim'll Fix It". Not so keen on Harris though. If anyone from Playschool or Playaway gets nicked I'll be finished.

Savil e could get away with this because of his connections. He was close to Blair and Thatcher and spent time with them as a guest at Chequers. He hosted Prince Charles as a guest at his Scottish home, and was a "fixer" for the Royals, in his own words he would "get things for them". All this is in the public record but seems out of bounds for most the mainstream media.
