In Moscow, the Kremlin acknowledged that a bomb had destroyed the jet last month, killing 224 people.

'bout time. I wonder: if the Russians had been more forthright with their intel about the plane bombing, could the recent attack in Paris been averted...?

Local residents in Raqqa say the bombing raids are a nightmare, but largely hit empty infrastructure or occasional IS checkpoints.

A French presidential source said Hollande also spoke by phone to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, who backed calls for a united front against the militants.

Heh. Sad when the French cannot depend on an old ally like the US, but instead seek the cooperation of mullahs.

But hey, don't blame me. I didn't vote for "Change."

Sad when the French cannot depend on an old ally like the US, but instead seek the cooperation of mullahs.

This illustrates one of the problems with interference in the Middle East - no one is able to even sort out the allies from the enemies. Iran is supposed to be an enemy, but they are an ally against ISIS. ISIS is supposed to be an enemy, but they are fighting Assad, who is supposed to be our enemy, but is our ally against ISIS. Bin Ladin was supported by the US, until he turned out to be the enemy. But then Saddam was supposed to be the enemy, and he was the one maintaining stability in the middle east.

So who exactly is the enemy, and who is the ally? No one really knows.

Let's get out of there, and let them sort it out.

France strikes ISIL, the article says. Lol. In other words, a couple of French airplanes dropped a couple of bombs somewhere in Syria.

Ha-ha . . . . as the world focuses on the recent attacks on Paris & France @War. There still some "obama supportes" who think the the limelight was stolen from them.

Go France! Go Russia!

Instead of symbolically blowing up a few buildings in Syria, how about Holland lifting the sanctions against Assad and let him take control of his country again? Plus close the islamist mosques back home and re-take control of the 800+ "zone urbane speciale", aka Shariah no-go areas in France, that have sprouted in the last few decades?

Now that would be something. Shall we hold our breath?

Yes we are all ISIS experts now. I thank goodness I am not Muslim. http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/muslim-man-in-northampton-asked-what-hes-doing-about-isis-20151117103929

@WilliB"aka Shariah no-go areas in France".

Those "areas" are camps for young terrorists and centres of Islamic Extremism. Charles de Gaulle would burn them to ashes but Hollande is just a weak puppet of Obama.

wakarimasen:

" Yes we are all ISIS experts now. I thank goodness I am not Muslim. "

Not sure where you are going with this, but are too suggesting that the Islamic State has nothing to do with islam, like some others did? In that case, Id suggest to take off the tinfoil hat for a moment.

This illustrates my point about not knowing who our friends are, and not knowing who our enemies are: https://www.facebook.com/Vox/videos/446925385495069/?fref=nf

Get out of this mess. There is no win to be had. Only lots of ways to lose.

Burning Bush:

" The west needs to admit they made a mistake by backing the jihadists and suck it up, acknowledge reality and align with the Syrian Government Army to crush the Jihadist rebels once and for all. "

The West does not need to "align" with the Syrian armee at all. The West should just stop the stupid sanctions against Assad and stop the ISIS supporters like Turkey, Saudi-Arabia and Qatar from sending funds and weapons to ISIS.

Maybe Hollande is smarter than Obama. (Trying to be optimistic here)

Get out of this mess. There is no win to be had. Only lots of ways to lose.

You can win. If you have the will to kill off as many jihadists as possible, you make it so damn painful, they'll think twice about waging a jihad. get as brutal as they get.

-4 ( +1 / -5 )

Russia doing what France did, getting revenge and attacking ISIS more significantly.

Putin floating the idea to not focus on western Syria but focus on ISIS in central eastern Syria in deal along with West nations.

Let's change a couple of words in there:

You can win. If you have the will to kill off as many Westerners as possible, you make it so damn painful, they'll think twice about waging a war on us. get as brutal as they get.

Who does that sound like?

Blood begets blood, anger begets anger, violence begets violence.

Get out of the Middle East. We don't belong there, and there are no positive outcomes of being there. No way to win, only different ways of losing.

Putin also talked about working with some of the moderates, offering air cover to help them fight IS.

Burning Bush:

" Hold on Bass, 4 years ago you were all RA-RA for the Jihadist rebellion in Syria. I can dig up your old posts if you want. Are you man enough to admit that you were wrong about the "rebels" from the get go? "

I don´t have such a photographic memory about local posters, but I can with certaintyl that I was right from the start about the so-called "Arab Spring" aka Shariah Winter that Obama et al supported so enthusiastically.

And so were all people with a clear mind and open eyes.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Who does that sound like?

Sounds like Victory.

Blood begets blood, anger begets anger, violence begets violence.

An eye for an eye.

Get out of the Middle East. We don't belong there, and there are no positive outcomes of being there. No way to win, only different ways of losing.

You get a strong leader, one that can pull together a strong coalition, you can indeed win. But the key to winning is, planning a strict and precise strategy, get more special forces on the ground, create a good set of surveillance in the region.

Hold on Bass, 4 years ago you were all RA-RA for the Jihadist rebellion in Syria.

Before I knew exactly who they were, yeah, I did. So what? I'm not allowed to say, oh, I made a mistake. Hey, at least I can admit to making mistakes, so what's all you Dems and liberals excuse?

I can dig up your old posts if you want.

When you say that, it makes me feel so good and loved that you care that much and have that much time to go digging through months and months of past statements. Thanks, dude.

Are you man enough to admit that you were wrong about the "rebels" from the get go?

Sure, unlike liberals, I'm human and a man with faults.

'Blood begets blood, anger begets anger, violence begets violence.'

'An eye for an eye.'

Very biblical. I thought you were a Christian. Jesus confronted that idea directly with "turn the other cheek". What edition of the New Testament are the US right reading these days? The one where Jesus exercised his liberty by chasing the pigs off the cliff firing a shotgun?

You have a very high opinion of liberals.

I am a Christian, just NOT the turn the other cheek kind of Christian.

I don't think the majority of Christians take the Bible face value literally.

You have a very high opinion of liberals.

When it comes to humanitarian aid, sure.

Bass: "I am a Christian, just NOT the turn the other cheek kind of Christian."

"Matthew 5:38-48 New International Version (NIV)

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’[a] 39 But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also."

I'm interested in what type of Christian you are. That's about as pacifist a quote as I've ever read. I don't accept it. I'm not a Christian. You are.

All you need to know is that I am a Christian with a gun and yes, I sleep very well at night.

I am a Christian, just NOT the turn the other cheek kind of Christian.

A Christian who doesn't follow the clear-cut teachings of Christ? How does that work, then?

I don't think the majority of Christians take the Bible face value literally.

The bits about apples and arks and whales, sure. But the actual teachings of Christ, in his own words? Just so much ... padding?

Piety is a warm gun?

Readers, no more talk of Christianity on this thread please.

re-take control of the 800+ "zone urbane speciale", aka Shariah no-go areas in France

The old Steven Emerson canard again. Selective amnesia, ladies?

US television network Fox News has apologised for claiming there are “totally Muslim” zones in Europe which police and non-Muslims are unable to enter, comments that aired on the conservative station following this month's terror attacks in France.

Following an uproar and plentiful ridicule on Twitter and elsewhere, the channel, which is known for its poor grasp of geography and international affairs, aired a lengthy apology during several broadcasts on Saturday.

http://www.france24.com/en/20150119-fox-news-backtracks-totally-muslim-zones-uk-france-birmingham

The Fox News commentator claimed Birmingham is "a totally Muslim city where non-Muslims simply don't go in".

The Prime Minister has told ITV News that Steven Emerson is "clearly an idiot".

er, this may come as a surprise, but ISIS and the other nut jobs are not going to stop. The objective is world-wide sharia. Paris was just the beginning.

"Piety is a warm gun?"

A beauty. To the sane that was very witty but don't be surprised if that quip appears on a gun magazine cover. I can see the heads nodding in agreement now.
