So, the rats are fleeing the sinking ship. But is the captain going down with the ship?

How much money did they take with them?

Any smart strategist would wait a while then mount insurgent attacks against the puppet govt. Algeria is a good place to regroup.

So this is the wife that repeatedly poured boiling water on their Ethiopian housemaid and beat other house staff?
I don't wish death on anyone but I really hope a similar fate befalls her.

Most likely Algeria would eventually turn them over to the new Libyan government or to the Hague Court. Algeria has enough problems fighting its own Islamist insurgency - the last thing Algeria needs is more headaches from Libya or Europe and certainly not from yet another armed group within its borders from Gadhafi's heirs. From the pacifist point of view, it's best when this Libyan civil war ends as soon as possible.

It appears the main objection to Ghaddafi's family's leaving is that the rebels would either like to: a. punish them for crimes they haven't thought of yet (no specific crimes have been listed) or b. use them as hostages to pressure Ghaddafi.
I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like one group of thugs will be replaced by another group of thugs. If not, now would be the time for the rebels to show they are above using someone's family this way, and that the new Libya will be higher-minded.

When has this ever not been the case? They're all thugs. The question is, are they the thugs you agree with, or the thugs you disagree with?
