War? You want to accuse Hamas a targeting and attacking civilians? Okay. You think they have a snowball's chance against Israeli military forces? Come on! If this is a war, its got to be one of the most one-sided wars in human history!

War? If this is a war, its got to be one of the most one-sided wars in human history!

War? I was thinking it was more like a brutal military crackdown.

War? I don't think the press referred to the Warsaw Ghetto uprising as a war.

According to the UN, as of 10 hours ago, there are now at least 173,123 evacuees within Gaza being housed in UN facilities. |That number totals more than 68,000 over full capacity for the largest sports stadium in the U.S.|

I recall the worldwide outrage over the massacre in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Beirut in 1982.

Hamas are firing missiles at Israel everyday. Israel responds disproportionately, killing civilians and hitting hospitals and UN schools. Neither Hamas nor the Israeli government has the moral high ground here, and the people that suffer the most are the Palestinian men, women, and children who want nothing to do with it. To be sure, the Israelis do have their share of suffering, but nowhere on the same scale as the Palestinians...and their heavy handed response is changing the dynamic of how Israel is being perceived internationally. Which could be a long overdue and positive development.

I recall the worldwide lack of outrage over the deaths of Palestinians in the Yarmouk refugee camp in 2014.

The problem is more with the thinking than the actual reality on the ground.

Israel has proved that it did not shell the school, and now the mysterious appearance of people at the site makes more sense.

But the bleeding heart liberals and the fundamentalists will not believe this, it just does not fit into their partially blind world view.

to seek and destroy... schools, hospitals and civilian facilities where dangerous Palestinian people like children, wounded and elders hide.....

What Israel is doing is seeking to put an end to rocket attacks and to destroy tunnels built with terrorist purposes. It is Hamas that is choosing to launch rockets from places where Gazan civilians are used as human shields, and it was Hamas who used 800,000 tons of cement to build terror tunnels and hiding places for their leaders, instead of using it to improve the lives of Palestinians living there.

By only criticising Israel, you are not helping the Palestinians at all.

There is no "war raging". The article is totally misleading. If Israel declared "war" on Gaza, it would be over in 5 minutes. There is ongoing conflict where Hamas shoots rockets at Israel and then hides behind the civilian population, while Israel tries to take out the rocket arsenals plus the terror tunnel entrances (so far they have found several dozens, all hidden in private residences and hospitals).

Incidentally, the Egyptian government is also searching for and destroying Hamas weapons smuggling tunnels at their Gaza border. Just last week, they blew up another 13 of those. But the article never claims there is a "war raging" with Egypt.

I also recall the worldwide "outrage", along with the pervasive sense of disbelief initially within diplomatic and academic communities and the international press corps following these events which became the impetus for UN General Assembly (resolution) A/RES/37/123 issued 16 December 1982. Plus ca change...

Kelso says, Israel has proven it did not shell the school. Please show us the "proof" it seems only Israeli news is reporting that. Liberal definition: Not limited to Authoritarian attitudes, views or dogmas. What do you stand for? Japonaise: I see that you still havnt made a single post about any other subject, in the world, (other than pro Israeli) comments while always condemning Palestine. Somehow you are blinded to admit that both sides continuously act and react exstremly poorly. You claim this will all be over if the rockets stop being fired, history has shown otherwise. Israel might stop bombing Palestine but they won't stop oppressing Palestine in every other way they can. Destroying their water aquafeirs, 8000 olive trees, blocking necessities, nor will they stop building ILLEGAL settlements that they know only inflame the region.

I do not condemn Palestine. I do however believe that Palestinians have never had leaders who really care about them. I condemn those leaders. They live the good life while doing nothing at all for the ordinary people they are supposed to support.

I'm not sure why you are keen to hear my comments on other topics. I'm afraid time, interest and knowledge restrictions prevent me from commenting elsewhere. I don't see how not commenting elsewhere makes me comments here less valid. But if you wish to believe that, it's OK.

"Israeli airstrikes have destroyed hundreds of homes, including close to 500 in direct hits, according to Palestinian rights groups. Entire Gaza neighborhoods near the border have been reduced to rubble."

Jeez, if only Hamas hadn't started firing all those rockets at Israel again this wouldn't have happened. Thanks a lot, Hamas.

"In southern Israel, one person was injured and a house was damaged by a rocket launched from Gaza, Israeli police said. The Israeli military said more than 50 rockets were fired Sunday.

Thanks a lot, Hamas, thanks a lot.

Please stop lying.

I did not realize that BBC, CNN are Israeli news channels. But then you learn something new everyday.

Israel might stop bombing Palestine but they won't stop oppressing Palestine in every other way they can.

Every country in the Middle-East 'oppresses' its citizens. Nobody bothers about the Shias in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait. But the moment Israel does something to protect itself, the hounds are out.

the people that suffer the most are the Palestinian men, women, and children who want nothing to do with it.

Then why did they vote for Hamas? Why do they listen to what Hamas tells them to do?

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Why do they listen to what Hamas tells them to do?

Because the consequences of going against Hamas are not unlike what would happen in North Korea if an ordinary citizen tried the same thing.

So that means if Hamas commits uses force on its people to impose its medieval ideology it is justified, and if Israel uses force it is not.

Kind of funny, this logic.

Not quite sure you understood what I wanted to say. Someone asked why Palestinians listen to what Hamas tells them to do. I was just saying that they don't really have much choice. If Palestinians speak out against Hamas they are likely to end up dead. As far as I'm aware, Israelis are perfectly able to speak out against their government without fear. If you compare the media in Israel with the media in Gaza, you'll see that Israelis have freedom to say and print whatever they like, whereas unfortunately that is not the case for Palestinians in Gaza under Hamas.

Japonaise: The fact that you have NEVER posted on any other thread besides Israeli related ones, suggest the rest of the world is of no importance to you and fits the patterns of the IDF electronic army, especially since you ONLY point fault with Palestine, with 100% positive support for EVERY Israeli action. I have acknowledge that BOTH sides continue this repetitive cycle of extremly poor actions and reactions, while you turn a blind eye to what the Israeli leaders like Bibi are doing. For someone who has such extremly onesided views, it's funny to see your sensitivity towards other posters being Impolite towards you.

Considering the weapons Israel has (and the stockpile of ammunition and weapons valued at over 400 million dollars kept by the U.S. in Israel), Israel's military response is rather measured and restrained. If the Israelis wanted to absolutely destroy the Palestinians (actually, it's not the Palestinians but Hamas that Israel is combating), they could. They choose not to.

Hamas is a terrorist organization with political authority in the government of Palestine. That's nuts. Hamas' primary mode of attack is launching rockets into civilian areas and sending suicide bombers onto buses filled with innocents. This can't be defended.

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about or what the "IDF electronic army" is. It seems you want me to post more things criticising the Israelis, but as I've said again and again, the Palestinians' misery is the fault of Hamas. The Israelis could stop attacking tomorrow and could lift the blockade and I am sure that would not be enough for Hamas and they would continue to make Palestinian families' lives hell by doing what they've been doing for almost 10 years now.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Japonaise says the Palestinian misery is the fault of Hamas. Though I will agree that Hamas actions, has done nothing but hurt the people of Palestine, Israel was causing mesery to Palestine long before Hamas was in power. Since you won't acknowledge Israel has ever done anything bad, do you support Israelis actions of destroying most of Palestinians water aquafeirs and 8000 olive trees? Do you support building more ILLEGAL settlements? Do you support Israel breaking more UN resolutions than any other country or state in the world? Lastly, I thought you claimed to know so much history about Israel and yet you never heard of their "IDF electronic army" propaganda machine?

That is true. Please send me a link so I can read about it.
