This is great. Nobody needs a man like him or McCain to influence a process that does not want the USA in another war (Syria, Iran) etc. Chaney has already made his move by lobbying. The economy needs a new generation of ideas from either party, but it has to be better than Carter and Bush

Then you would have to include Obama as well.

    "the wobbly economy"

Hey, it's going to take a decade or so of Democrat leadership to fix the mess left by Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld! Obama's just getting started !

Bush thinks that Romney would be a great president? Hmmm, now how much weight should I give to an endorsment from someone as wise as GWB?

But then again I suppose Bush and Romney have a lot in common. Both tried to hide documents from the public - Bush going AWOL while defending Texas from a Vietnamese invasion, and Romney with his tax returns.

There might have been an invitation with the understanding that he wouldn't show up. Mitt doesn't want Bush to remind voters with short attention spans about the last administration.

Romney must be listening to Motley Crue's "You're Invited But Your Friends Can't Come". lolol

Now the republicans know what a loser bush junior is, but they voted for him twice. Bush will go down as one of the worse presidents in the history of the USA, in there with Hoover and Coolidge. Not one of his very few initiatives will stand the test of time, none. His legacy will be failed wars, huge federal spending increases with lowered taxes for the rich and the near collapse of the american market system.

And Romney since he is a pawn of the crony capitalism rich crowd would be worse than Bush.

In a not so far future, history will name the exact point when America lose world leadership, political and economically: the day Bush was elected. It must be hard to be American citizen, see your country sinking little by little, and have the knowledge that he/she voted for Bush.

Good to hear that even the Bushes are shunning old Mitt Romney! Poor fat ass Rush Limbaugh must be nearing a breaking point and going hopping mad that even 2 ex REPUBLICAN presidents will not show up to the Republican Convention!! I do hope we can turn not only the US economy around but also much of the WORLD economy, since so many countries around the world depend on trade with the USA, with out stupid Romney anywhere near the US White House!

pamelot - "George Bush has got class."

"I'm the commander -- see, I don't need to explain -- I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being president." --as quoted in Bob Woodward's Bush at War

Heh, classiest act since Kermit the Frog.

Bush doesn't want to go because nobody really likes Romney even in his own party and Romney doesn't want him to go because he's the worst president in living memory. A win-win for them both.

“President Bush was grateful for the invitation,”

Good to see him invited and not being advised to just skip the Republican convention instead. Much different than Democratic Minority House Leader Nancy Pelosi's advice to her fellow Democrats.....................

House minority leader Nancy Pelosi says Democratic members should stay home and campaign in their districts rather than go to the party’s national convention in North Carolina.

“I’m not encouraging anyone to go to the convention, having nothing to do with anything except I think they should stay home, campaign in their districts, use their financial and political resources to help them win their election,” Pelosi said in an exclusive interview for POLITICO Live’s “On Congress,” a new weekly show to be streamed live on POLITICO’s website and broadcast on NewsChannel 8 on Wednesdays.

I'll have to adjust my opinion about W.

He's smart enough to know where he's not wanted, so he leaves the ranch as little as possible.

Scan the audience for anyone in a Lord Voldemort mask - "the one who cannot be named." That would be either Bush or Cheney.

Good to see bUsH is now realizing the epic disaster that he was.

In Mitt, it's clear conservatives haven't learned any lessons at all from the 8-year nightmare that was bUSH's 2 terms.

    Sail,

    From your link:

"Pelosi also criticized Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for not releasing more years of his tax returns — “the American people seem to want to know,” she said."

    Don't hold your breathe, Nancy.

As thoroughly demented as he is, at least bUsH recognizes that the current crop of Republicans doesn't want to be associated with him at all. They're determined to pretend Obama's responsible for all the horrendous stuff caused by the bUSh regime.

    SushiSake3

On one hand, I think bUsH is doing the sensible thing by skipping the GOP convention.

He also knows it's going to be a total nut-fest with Bachmann-types, birthers, probably Rush Limbaugh, the semi-illiterate screaming heads from Fox News, and hundreds of diehard conservatives all with one thing in common - they hate America and want to continue creating the economic and social carnage they supported under bUSh but this time under Romney.

They also didn't invite Our Sarah? Think she can still see Russia?
