WTF?! Does anyone else here see the hypocrisy in this? Georgia breaks away from the former Soviet Union and looks to the West for help in asserting their right to self-determination. But when two provinces in Goergia attempt to exercise their own self-determination by breaking away, Georgia tries to take them back by force . . . Just as the former Soviets would have done.
Were it the Russians forcing Georgia back into the fold by force, the world would be raising hell. But since its Georgia, a "democracy," it's acceptable? If the people of South Ossetia and Abkhazia don't want to be part of Georgia, then what right does Georgia have to forcibly incorporate them? What am I missing here?
This is Cirroc, CavemanLawyer, reporting live tonight at the scene of some extreme domestic violence.
A few hours ago, one George Exbloc invaded the home of his estranged wife Sossetia Exbloc and attacked her and her new boyfriend, Peter Ruskie. The Exblocs had been estranged for 15 years but not formally divorced, and recently she has been living with Mr. Ruskie, who was her former husband from before marrying George. Apparently this reversal displeased George greatly.
In response to the home invasion and violent attack by George, Ruskie may have used excessive force, as he continued beating George all the way back to George's own house and even inside of it.
As I report live, officers have yet to arrive. It seems that Ruskie is currently milling around in George's living room, but is no longer violent. It is hard to say how long that will last however, as George is yelling from the second floor window, vowing that he will get Sossetia back and that even 15 years has not diminished his love.
Which of these violent men will Sossetia choose? Or will she come to her senses and reject both? Will the courts issue restraining orders? When will the police arrive? More details as they come...

You mean we're selling or giving Cluster bombs to Georgia. And they used them in South Ossetia. Where are the people supporting this action? Is this what you wanted? Georgia killing with Cluster bombs in South Ossetia. And you want to totally forget the part where Georgia started this aggression.
Human Rights Watch announced in September that it had received an official letter from Georgia's Defense Ministry that admitted the use of M85 cluster munitions in South Ossetia.
Your failing to mention that Mr. Ruskie repeatively forced George Exbloc to marry him since 1803, made promises that he didn't keep, abused and killed George Exbloc's family and would only allow George Exbloc to go to Mr. Ruskie approved churches. Then Mr. Ruskie starting interfering in George Exbloc and Sossetia Exbloc interal affairs and used Sossetia Exbloc to continually poke George Exbloc into some sort of action.
I was going to mention that, but I felt it too much for one post. If this thread continued, and it hasn't, I was going to put it in another post.
But what you say is only all the more reason that George should leave Mr. Ruskie and Sossetia alone. Everything I see indicates that Sossetia does not want to be with George. And after the forced marriages George suffered, one would think he would be sympathetic.
As for Mr. Ruskie's meddling, I don't know about that. It seems to me that if you can meddle with a marriage there is usually a problem in the marriage already. I do not think Sossetia was meddled with any more or less than she wanted to be. Is there such a thing consensual meddling?
All that matters is the self-determination of South Ossetia and Abhkazia, even if they want to rejoin Russia, its their right.

Georgia’s president vowed Sunday to regain control of two breakaway provinces with the help of “the rest of the world.”

Just what we need to do. Place a US Naval installation in Georgia.
You know that Russia will take the next step.
Hey SuperLib, remember several months ago when I said we were seeing a restart of the Cold-war. Do you still doubt me? < :-)
