I also offer flowers for premature departure of Google from China, now it may join hands of Dalai Lama and...long march of freedom may continue until next to next century.

The most hilarious part of this story is that Google's threat to leave China has itself been censored from the news in China.

Google should fight fire with fire. They've got the best tech guys in the world - surely they can work out a way to pwn the Chinese firewall.

A search for the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement returned a message saying the browser could not open the page.

Rather than just honestly admit that the government has ordered your access blocked. I like it when people are so righteous they have to hide in the shadows. Makes me really think they are doing it for the best. Yeah. Right.

For one rare moment I can be proud of an American company, in how they operate overseas, defending basic inalienable rights, such quaint aspirations like "life, liberty, pursuit of happiness..." However late in its coming, even "justice delayed" can be sweet.

The Chinese people on the mainland deserve the right to self rule, choose their own political parties, access information freely, form their own opinions, speak their mind freely and vote. Only then will there be a legitimate Government on the mainland. There is no legitimacy in dictatorship.

Google's "Screw you!" to China after following their rules yet the coordinated hacking attempts it still got.

Overseas companies will largely continue doing China's twisted bidding in pursuit of greed and profits. They know it and China knows it. But censorship and restriction of freedom is going to backfire some day and when it happens it will be big and ugly. Still, it's good to see some organization making a stand against a regime that wants it all.
