He is probably the worst advocate for that cause. If they opened up, North Korean thugs would probably find 2/3 of internet OK, but google would the last thing they'd let it.

What! And let N.Korean citizens find out that their government truly bites the big one?

This is almost laughable. It would be more cost effective to just not allow North Korean citizens to access the internet than to play the censorship game that China does. And how are he PC's going to run when the power goes out?

@Ossan good point but when the power goes out and the people don't get their internet, they might start getting really REALLY upset at the NK government and expect/demand better than the lies.

While communism is actually a noble concept of "pooling" resources for the good of all, it does NOT take into account human greed nor laziness and therefore is flawed. I think this visit to North Korea was merely to gain insight for a book & anyone travelling to such dictator-ruled countries should have their motives examined completely. As a leader, if you indeed want your country to remain communist, use China as an example and allow limited use to the internet or suffer economic, social, & technological set-backs for years or even decades to come.

As a public service, I will now paraphrase this Google Exec's comments:

"Please let your people access the internet! Then, they can use my search engine and I can rake in more profits from advertising fees."
